There's a report today that the New York Times has a story coming up that details extensive involvement between Senator McCain and a telco lobbyist that may have resulted in the telco retro-active immunity provision of the new FISA amendment.

... According to Matt Drudge, McCain has hired legal counsel to pressure the Times to hold back on the story until after the primaries, or kill it outright.

Additionally, according to Drudges account, "Rutenburg had hoped to break the story before the Christmas holiday, sources reveal, but editor Keller expressed serious reservations about journalism ethics and issuing a damaging story so close to an election."

If the New York Times has endorsed McCain, but supposedly has a damaging story about him, will this end up scuttling McCain’s electability if he gets the GOP nomination?

I'm guessing this is one of many stories the press would suddenly uncover after McCain got the nomination.

That sure shows commitment to the part above self!

Maybe he is Hillary’s stalking horse.

Maybe the NYT hopes for the drama of withdrawing their endorsement after he gets the nomination.

Really doesn’t matter. McNut will probably win FL. Guess the republicans forgot that a vote for McNut is a vote for Hiltery or OOOBAAAMMAAA. They will expose McNut for what he is.

It’s certainly no coincidence that they ran this story after it was too late to affect the Florida vote.

That's Rich!

I guess they want to stall it until McCain-Feingold kicks in and CENSORS the press.

For drudge to pimp his site with a “scandal” absent any facts whatsoever is lame.

It tells me that there’s probably nothing to it. The NYT? How about a *credible* source?

How about a credible source?

Given that the New York Times has endorsed John McCain (and Chillary), that would mean that John McCain wouldn’t be a credible candidate for the GOP nom.

So...

If you don’t care one way or the other about McLame, then you shouldn't’t be posting on this thread.

Why spend your time griping.

To: Laissez-faire capitalist

Why indeed.

But I’m not the one griping, other than about some non-story.

McCain either will or will not be the nominee. If he’s the nominee he’ll get my vote. If somebody else is, then somebody else will get my vote.

The thing that matters is that neither Hillary or Obama is President.

Gee, maybe the Republican nominee will get indicted for the Clintons’ October Surprise! ROFLOL! Anybody who doesn’t know that John McCain is a 1st class crook lining his pockets at least since the Keating 5, if not before, deserves what is coming to take this lunatic down. Maybe Hillary with her 50% negatives won’t even need a 3rd party candidate to siphon votes from the Republican nominee if he’s cooling his heels in jail awaiting trial.
