Like most of FR, this thread has been and will continue to be co-opted by a noxious group of Paulites, Buchananites, paleocons, libertarians, ‘tin foil hat’ conspiracy nuts, one-issue purists, BDS sufferers, and leftist/DNC infiltrators — KOS wannabes all!

[Hey Noonan: You and the cabal identified above are as wrong about President George W Bush as you were about Ronald Reagan:

“THE BATTLE FOR THE MIND OF RONALD REAGAN WAS LIKE THE TRENCH WARFARE OF WORLD WAR I: NEVER HAVE SO MANY FOUGHT SO HARD FOR SUCH BARREN TERRAIN” Peggy Noonan]

THE LEGACY OF PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH IS SECURE:

“All soldiers say MR. PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH IS THE HERO MAN IN THE WORLD,” Abbas told us in fractured English. “He’s fighting on behalf of hte world, not just Iraq. Mr. President Bush is fighting on behalf of humanity. America was the only country in the world that decided to help the people of Iraq. Under Saddam we had a very black future. We had no refrigerators, no electricity. We lived like the cow. Now we have a future.”

And his accomplishments are many:

THE ESSENTIAL PRESIDENT BUSH
The Anchoress

A much-esteemed, long-neglected friend sent an email this morning, which was delightful to recieve. At one point he mentioned this post from yesterday and wrote: I think (President Bush) has lost his bearings. but then, so did Moses from time to time, it’s quite understandable.

That made me wonder a little - has President Bush lost his bearings, or have we? Is it President Bush who has broken faith with “his base” or have they?

When I read my friend’s line, I thought of a line from Pride and Prejudice, in which Elizabeth Bennett says in new appreciation of Mr. Darcy, “In essentials, I believe, he is very much what he ever was.”

Perhaps I am a dim bulb, but President Bush has never surprised me, and that is probably why I have never felt let down or “betrayed” by him. He is, in essentials, precisely who he has ever been. He did not surprise me when he managed, in August of 2001, to find a morally workable solution in the matter of Embryonic Stem Cells. He did not surprise me when, a month later, he stood on a pile of rubble and lifted a broken city from its knees. When my FDNY friends told me of the enormous consolation and strength he brought to his meetings with grieving families, I was not surprised. When the World Series opened in New York City and the President was invited to throw the first pitch, there was no surprise in his throwing (while wearing body armor) a perfect strike.

I plan to enjoy the President’s SOTU with a large group of supporters who recognize George W Bush for the courageous, visionary leader he is . . . If you want to ‘get directions’ to the party, freep mail me.

National Strategy for Combating Terrorism

Today I am pleased to issue the National Strategy for Combating Terrorism. This strategy outlines the effort our nation is making to win the war against global terror.

The strategy complements important elements of the National Security Strategy, as well as our National Strategies for: Homeland Security, to Combat Weapons of Mass Destruction, to Secure Cyberspace, for the Physical Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Key Assets, and the National Drug Control Strategy.

Together these efforts establish critical goals for strengthening America's security against the threats of the 21st century.

The United States' strategy for combating terrorism focuses on taking the fight to the terrorists themselves. We are using all elements of our national power and international influence to attack terror networks; reduce their ability to communicate and coordinate their plans; isolate them from potential allies and from each other; and identify and disrupt their plots before they attack.

Our country works closely with every nation committed to this fight, and we will continue to help our allies and friends improve their ability to fight terror.

The war against global terror will be hard and long. Today, terror cells exist on nearly every continent and in dozens of countries, including our own.

Victory will depend on the courage, strength, and fortitude of America's people and our partners around the world. It will be measured through the steady, patient work of dismantling terror networks and bringing terrorists to justice, oftentimes one by one.

Our Nation is unalterably committed to protecting our citizens, routing terror wherever it exists, and building a safer, better world of greater opportunity and freedom for all peoples. We will not rest until we succeed.

Bless you for your post to us: (lonestar67; maine-iac7; Jewels1091; keeper53; Laverne; andyandval; txflake; STARWISE; All)

This thread needs disinfecting.

I've always been aware that there are many people in the world who are and always will be diametrically opposed to everything i beleive, but to find so many now in FR, is truly disheartening.

Your post came just in time to lift my spirits back up...

That 'rescue" in Peru is my all time favorite of my brave President Bush.

Thank you.

Amen Deb. We will not see another like him in our lifetime. History will take note of George W. Bush. There’s no need to argue with his detractors. Most of them will live to see him heralded as the great president that he is; perhaps the greatest president since Lincoln. His vision is fixed on the future where the people can’t yet see.

Thank you. Thank you so very much for expressing so well what I wanted to say! It is sad to note how many Bushbashers there are here on FR; sometimes it feels like a DU cesspool, which have made FR a very inhospitable place of late. And, did I mention: thank you? (LOL!)
