At Post 20 of that thread, FReeper Southack did a nice job of commenting on the subject. I don’t know how or I would have simply posted it on this thread.

not good enough

I put down the challenge here in 2006
pick YOUR candidate for 2008

The angry bush reactionaries failed despite perfect opportunity to do so

So yes. Bush is a winner and the rest are whiners

Points made elsewhere show how despised Reagan was in 1988

Bush has done far more as a conservative

He deserves respect for his last SOTU

That’s about the state of things
with the ungrateful, spoiled
brat, apathetic, and uninformed
me-me-me crowd isn’t it?

I guess it really WILL take another
attack.

But W will go out with dignity,
self-respect, grace, allegiance
to duty and the manners with which
he was so wonderfully raised .. giving
his all to the job ‘til the very last
day.

God bless and protect him and his family.

For those of you who have loved ones in the military, you need to pass on this message: The Commander in Chief has got all the confidence in the world, all the confidence, that our military can achieve any objective. I’m proud of them, and I appreciate their sacrifices for our great nation.
—George W. Bush

I can. It will be the next 7+ without him.

I can’t believe you just posted that here

Mention "Indians", "Mormons" or "Bush" and the congenital haters come out of the woodwork, spewing froth.

From what I’ve read about the history of the SOTU, it’s been traditional that the first such speech delivered by a newly-inaugurated President isn’t an “offical” SOTU, in deference to the previous occupant having governed for the past year. Of course, if the Dems take the office in 2009, the heck with tradition...

In prior years, SOTU addresses have been given in late December, in early January, in writing only to the Congress, and sometimes not at all. So President Bush is within precedent to give another one for the year 2008 before he leaves office, if he so chooses.

I respect him, I just disagree with his performance on a large number of issues.

I’d be interested to know the drinking game keywords as I watch the SOTU.

I personally guarantee at least five instances of "empower", "empowerment", etc.

If you have a personal alcohol coordinator, you can get a very detailed list here.

I’m with you. I with you on all of it.

The President has done a magnificent job on the prosecution of the war.

He has failed abyssmally at home. And he has capitulated to the Left.

Wow. I am no longer a fan of the President, but “worst POTUS in our history?”
That’s quite a reach considering the clowns we’ve had in office as of late. Clinton, Bush Sr, and Carter all rank below our current President.
