During Thursday night's Republican debate, presidential candidate Mitt Romney said something that angered me a bit...
No, this time I'm not mad AT Mitt. And one more thing. What -- what an audacious and arrogant thing for the Democrats to say, as Hillary Clinton did, that they are responsible for the progress that the surge has seen, by virtue of their trying to pull out so quickly.
Look, the success over there is due to the -- the blood and the courage of our servicemen and women, and to General Petraeus and to President Bush, not to General Hillary Clinton.

I’ve been saying for the last couple of months that the Dems would try and take credit for the surge!
They were for the surge, before they were against it.
“We back stabbed the troops, to help the troops.”
American sheep, in general, have short term memory loss. So anything the Dems said as recent as a week ago, has already been purged from their memory.
But don’t question their ‘patriotism’, just ignore that it’s for al-qeda I guess!
The only “surge” Hillary can take credit for is the growing girth of her rear end.
The only surge Hillary can take credit for is the flushing of toilets across the nation a few moments after her mug shows up on the tube.
That’s kinda’ like performing the Heimlich Maneuver on someone who obviously didn’t need it......just because the news cameras were there.
I can see we have a theme developing... LOL
LOL!!! Let’s keep it going!
Democrats encouraged terrorists in Iraq to hold on until they gained Congress in 2006 and could end the war. Because most Congressional Democrats lacked the guts to end the war—and Bush stood like a stone wall—they backed down on vote after vote.
Ahhh, so it was reverse psychology, ey?
After we’ve made the two best offerings that could ever be made? LOL
Oh.
Looking forward to seeing the democrats get beat about the head for their betrayal of our heroes this election year.
Quote after quote after quote can be used against them.
And these guys are going to have a say too!.......

SELECTIVE short term memory loss. they can remember something a ‘pub said last week or as far back as when he was 3.
Mitt also stated during the debate (not exact words) “No one wants to see Bill Clinton back in the White House with nothing to do”
He nailed it last night.
She learned this from Bill.
Ouch! That was a good one by Mitt. Wish I had seen/heard it.
Nothing is too good for our fighting men, and nothing is what they get.
“The force of our knives entering their backs pushed the troops forward to victory!”
/DemocRAT
My only concern is they aren’t hit hard enough. It is my contention that it should be absolutely merciless! Hold nothing back, don’t be scared about blowback or backfires...let er rip with both barrels!
At least Romny pointed out the witches audacity!
Yes, but Reid, Pelosi and Murtha can not reveal their strategy until victory is assured.
By this criterion Chamberlain and Petain were responsible for the Allied defeat of the Nazis.
Mitt won me over last night quite frankly with his zingers aimed at the CLINTOONS. He’s just getting the hang of this and he’s rolled up his sleeves.
‘Rats don’t have any war heroes so they have to manufacture them as they go along. And they aren’t in the military these days but they play the parts in movies.
If i recall correctly, when Gen Petraeus was explaining his plan before Congress,Hillary stated that to believe the general and his plan “required the willing suspension of disbelief”.Talk about a 180 degree turn.Did anyone else hear that?
I know a name for this must have been coined already but clearly a single word, a label, is needed to describe this kind of psychological ailment.
What the H377 goes through their minds? Is it the drugs? Is it the pure, unadulterated lust for power?
All I can say is; “Election time is approaching, Swift Boaters, Start Your Engines!”
And it came to past...
I wish his critics at Free Republic would just get over what he said, or meant, or did, or did not do in Massachusetts.
With Fred Thompson gone, there is no viable candidate but Romney. The Senator from the New York Times and the southern Baptist preacher/Governor simply do not have a wide enough appeal to win the Presidency. Nor is their preparation deep enough and broad enough to perform well. I would have been happy with Thompson or Hunter but it did not happen. They may be each angling for a brokered convention. It has novelty value in this age, but I don’t see it as a winning strategy for the Republican party.
Bubba can take credit for 9-11, too.
“The Democrat Party, through their anti-war, defeatist rhetoric, emboldened the enemy, thus costing many of our soldiers and Iraqi civilians their lives”.
As I was reading this Bob I was thinking precisely that above, and then noted that you wrote it. Thanks.
Concurrently the Leftist defeatist actions I believe extended the war as well.
Moi aussi!
Specifically, how would you run against Hillary and Bill Clinton in November?
Romney: I frankly can’t wait, because the idea of Bill Clinton back in the White House with nothing to do is something I just can’t imagine. I can’t imagine the American people can’t imagine, and I...
Apparently, Clinton willingly suspended disbelief WRT the surge long enough to go over to Iraq and win the War all by herself.
How noble and courageous.
As well, I’m sure Clinton’s refusal to disavow Moveon’s Gen Betrayus ad helped a lot.
Points for Mitt! I like the way he said that.
Try as one might, it is most likely impossible to find even the tiniest example of principal in this woman.
She is the symbol of death to our nation.
On a lighter side, John McCain did not grit his teeth today!
Et voila!
--Sen. Clinton, addressing General David Petraeus during his Senate testimony on Iraq, September 10, 2007.
Welcome to the next four years. God, I detest this woman.
The Dems were opposed to sending so many troops to Iraq...
But they voted for it anyway...
And then the Dems insisted that Bush did not send enough troops...
So Bush instituted the surge....
Then the Dems insisted that the surge was a foolish thing to do, and that it would fail...
But it succeeded....
So now the Dems are claiming that the surge was their idea all along...
But they still want to pull out the troops.
What a vile woman.
In this case, I think it's more like "They were against the surge before they were for it."
I agree heartily!
Nice reply, and true!
They only take credit for the good things, deserved or not. They always assign blame for the bad things, deserved or not.
Hillary Clinton only lies when her mouth is moving.
Liar, liar, pants suit on fire.
