Atlanta mayor takes political shot at Bill Clinton

With former President Bill Clinton standing not 20 feet in front of her, Atlanta mayor Shirley Franklin took what appeared to be a political shot at the former president's comments about Barack Obama's candidacy.

Speaking at the 40th annual MLK commemorative service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Franklin said the country is on the "cusp of turning the impossible into reality. Yes this is reality, not fantasy or fairy tales."

Clinton, in supporting his wife Hillary's bid for the Democratic nomination, recently took heat for using the term "fairy tale" to describe Obama's depiction of his stance on the war.

Franklin has endorsed Obama, who spoke from the same pulpit at Ebenezer on Sunday.

Today, after Franklin's remarks, the crowd of more than 2000 rose to its feet - except for Bill Clinton, who sat in his front pew seat and clapped politely.

Five seats to Clinton's left sat another former Arkansas govenor, Republican Mike Huckabee, also seeking his party's nomination as president. He stood at the end of Franklin's remarks.

During his address, Clinton responded to Franklin's remarks. "Mayor Franklin already took care of the political stuff. I wouldn't have said it quite the way she did but she got it all out there."

Bill Clinton is an a-double-scribble.

Bill Clinton loves you more than his momma until you dare to contradict him.

This is truly a delight...especially coming on the celebration of MLK Day. If there was ever a more glaring example of liberal hypocrisy...imagine blacks disrespecting Bill Clinton, once hailed as the first black president, because Obama is, like them, black. It is the ultimate example of the Dems’ racial politics, the antithesis of MLK’s stated desire to live in a nation where people are judged by the content of their character, rather than the color of their skin. They support Obama because Obama is black...Clinton is now just another white guy.

“... turning the impossible into reality...”

I guess she is referring to the wet dream of America’s first half-white president.

However, the REAL achievement, that being equality of opportunity, has already been successfully accomplished. For you young uns out there, this did not happen with the help of governmental intervention, and it most certainly did not happen yesterday, or even recently, but long ago; habitual lies of the race pimps notwithstanding.

Notice how the DBM always takes pains to correct the misquote involving "fairy tales". Clinton may have been talking about Obama's war stance when he used the phrase, but blacks everywhere took it to mean Obama's candidacy itself.

And now, every chance they get, the DBM tries to correct that "misunderstanding".

Notice that they never try to correct misunderstandings that arise when OTHER politicians (especially conservatives) are misquoted. Only when it happens to Queen Hildebeast, or her Crooked One hubby, do they suddenly become such amazing sticklers for accuracy. Amazing.

Thin-skinned sociopath can dish it out, but gets very angry when someone has the temerity to speak back to him. And he doesn’t like those black folk gettin’ uppity with him either!

From the perspective of many African Americans the Clintons’ eight years in office contributed nothing to the black community more than lip service. Welfare reform and a balanced budget—Republican Congressional projects Clinton signed and took credit for—had a negative effect on the poor in the short term. As the black community continues to rally to Obama, the Obama camp has a lot of negative Clinton history than can use when the time comes.

"Yes this is reality, not fantasy or fairy tales."

Nicely done, Mayor. Takin' Bill to the woodshed right smack in the Capitol of the South. Send Bubba back where he came from.
