I went to Pissant’s page to get the DH ping list and his page is cleared. Who has the ping list? I’d like to re-float this prior suggestion to everyone.
When all the smoke clears, if Hunter doesnt get the nomination, I have one more suggestion for all of us remaining conservative freepers. It would make sense for us to have an idealogy score, a set of questions with rankings of how important the issue is and how strongly a freeper agrees/disagrees with it. We could all put these results on our home pages, so that when another freeper is debating with us (or us with them) we could just go to their home page, check their score on that issue & others, and realize Ohhh, this is a Ron Paul supporter or ohh, this guy is a small l libertarian or ohh, this guy is a Big F FISCAL Conservative and a small l social liberal.
Its okay for FR to be inundated with RINOs or have a bunch of liberals posting here, as long as theyre up front about it.

Well, we missed a golden opportunity I am sad to say. Looks like the powers that be won again.
I am very sad to see him go.
To: WalterSkinner
Has he made an announcement? I can’t find it. He’s a good man. I wish he could soldier on a little longer. But I understand why he can’t.

Thanks for the ping. I’m proud of Hunter, he was my first choice.
Not feeling too great right now about things, my first & second choices (Fred Thompson) not doing great. I’m starting to get sinking feelings like I did when Carter & Clinton won.
Prayers for America, she’s gonna need each and every one of them.
To: WalterSkinner
I hadn’t heard this. I’m sorry, Hunter supporters. Both you and he fought the good fight.

To: WalterSkinner
Here’s my own personal tribute to Congressman Hunter:
I first met him in 2006, when he came in to help a very good friend of mine in his successful bid for Congress. Really didn’t know much about him before that, but he mightily impressed me with his humility, graciousness, and principled approach to politics.
Nothing I’ve seen since has changed that analysis. I’ve had a number of conversations with him over the last year, and my respect for him has only grown.
I wish him and his family nothing but the very best.

Don’t think Hunter is really out. I expect that he will get a prominent role in a GOP administration. Something on the line of SecDef. So don’t grieve yet. Duncan Hunter still has important work to do.

It seems that whenever someone good lost an election, the Bush administration would appoint him to a good position. Let’s hope that happens with Rep. Hunter. Maybe Director of Homeland Security, or Sec. of Defense? Then maybe back in the race for 2012 or 2016.

By Michael D. Shear
LAS VEGAS — California Rep. Duncan Hunter dropped out of the Republican presidential race after placing near the bottom of the pack in Nevada’s voting and even before the polls closed in South Carolina’s primary.
In a statement, Hunter said he recognized that his campaign had not gained “traction” and he said he will return to the House of Representatives to do legislative work on defense issues, which have been his specialty there.
“The failure of our campaign to gain traction is mine and mine alone,” he said. “But we have driven the issues of national security, the border fence, the emergence of China and the need to reverse bad trade policy. Because of that, this campaign has been very worthwhile, and for the Hunter family, a lot of fun.”
Hunter, who represented the conservative San Diego area, had never raised much money and captured almost no attention from the media or the public. His only moments in the spotlight were the many Republican debates, but even there, he was outshined by Rep. Ron Paul and the front-runners in the GOP contest.
Hunter tried to appeal to conservative voters with an aggressive message on illegal immigration and was steadfastly pro-military during his year-long run for the White House. His departure leaves six people in the race.
