Family Sues Over Quotas
The New York Post ^ | January 14, 2008 | NY Post / By DAN MANGAN

A year after the city's racial quotas kept their daughter out of an elite public school, an Indian couple from Brooklyn is filing a class-action lawsuit to make sure it doesn't happen again to her or any child.

"Children should be judged on the content of their character, not on the color of their skin," said Dr. Anjan Rau, the girl's dad, about the quotas at Mark Twain School in Coney Island.

"The selection process should be colorblind," Rau said.

For decades, the school has enforced racial double standards on its tests to maintain a 6-4 white-to-minority ratio to comply with a 1974 federal court desegregation order.

The order now prevents

And end race-based preferences while you’re at it.

Colorblind.
What a concept. Imagine that, basing something on a persons ability. What revolutionary idea.

This is the flip side of Afirmative Action. It’s unfair to minority students as well! Once the minority quota is fulfilled, you’re out of luck.

That’s a key change in NYC. The “honors” public schools would be overwhelmingly east and south Asian, NOT white, if the quotas abolished. The rules are basically to keep a huge chunk of the student body black more than anything else (blacks being the largest ethnic/racial group by a significant margin in Brooklyn public schools).

"Children should be judged on the content of their character, not on the color of their skin,"

Then take them to another state. This is New York.

See #5. Were the quotas abolished, white kids would need affirmative action to be represented "proportionally."

These rules were put into effect back in the old days when NY's academic high schools were disproportionately Jewish. The local "civil rights movement" pushed for these quotas for "balance." These days, there are relatively few white kids (outside of the Eastern European immigrant communities) in the public school system in Brooklyn, so the laws adversely affect Asians more than anyone else.

Affirmative Action is the old slogan, the racists and demoncrats are now using the term DIVERSITY - to enact racism and division. Seem my tagline...

After The Post revealed Nikita's case in June, Schools Chancellor Joel Klein called the quotas "unnecessary" and an "anachronism." But Klein has not sought to end the quotas - even after the US Supreme Court weeks later ruled in two other cities' cases that race could not be used to decide which public schools kids attend.

Every school in the country should have reviewed their quota policies after last June's SCOTUS decisions. They leave no room for this kind of race-based quota. This is just another case of a liberal school administrator projecting his world view upon the rest of us.

Another interesting point is that the story refers to the father as "Indian". From another story I found this:

"Dr. Rau is a Bay Ridge resident who emigrated from India in 1982. "She's American born, and she's a U.S. citizen, and [her parents] are both U.S. citizens, but that doesn't count," he told the Post."

So, both Dad and kid are AMERICANS and should be referred to as such -- or do the morons talk about "The Irish Senator from Massachusetts"; "The Italian former mayor of New York"; the "German general who commanded the allied troops on D-Day" or "the Indian Governor of Louisiana" ?

How do they do that? Do they have a “color reference chart” or maybe a 1939 German classification manual. I'm thinking that this “person of color” classification thing is getting harder all the time.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That is the Marxists’ plan.

The people who write the rules fully know the consequences WILL be the destruction of Western Civilization. Sadly, they have armies of not too bright Useful Idiots in our government schools to help them.

Marxism is our nation’s MOST urgent and serious threat! Schools are the Marxists most important weapon!

BRAVO!!! I would NEVER describe myself as the "Polish/Italian habitue of Free Republic." I have been to Italy, and I have met many people from Poland. I HAVE VERY LITTLE IN COMMON WITH THEM, even folks who are blood relatives.

Interesting that you referenced Senator Swimmer. His father once said, after seeing himself described as "a prominent Irish power broker" in the Washington Post, "what the hell do I have to do to be called an American anyhow?"
