Mike *uckabee is the candidate for Christians who wear their religion on their sleeves.
Fred Thompson is the candidate for Christians who wear it in their hearts.
Realistically, I think Evangelicals are not going to get too fired up over a candidate who considers his faith to be a “private matter” and refuses to speak about it publicly.
Right or wrong, that’s just how it is.

I saw both Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan up close while an intelligence analyst in the service. We cannot afford another Jimmy Carter, and that's exactly who Governor Mike Huckabee reminds me of, eerily, in fact.
Simple, support Thompson, and your handing McCain the nomination. Not me.

Huckabee is one-third conservative and two-thirds liberal. Soft-on-crime with his commutation and pardon spree, tax-and-spend with his 50%+ increase in spending in 10 years and his multiple tax hikes, and Carteresque on foreign policy with his bombastic charages of a Bush 'bunker mentality' and statements that we were wrong to not have diplomatic relations with Iran (hello, mcfly! forget the hostage crisis!!?!)
But the worst thing is this: BECAUSE Huckabee is such a weak candidate - he cannot, he will not, he MUST not, be the nominee ... SO WHAT PURPOSE DOES HE SERVE? He serves the magnificent purpose of drawing off enough social conservative support TO PREVENT A REAL COMPETITOR TO JOHN MCCAIN FROM EMERGING. Huckabee ends up beign the stalking horse that helps give mcCain the nomination.
And so the wink and nod 'deal'. Huckabee helps McCain get the nod and ends up as the VP on the ticket.
A double-barrelled RINO ticket. Phooey to that.

Throw them both back in the pond.
We must unite behind a candidate that is at least acceptable to all the major factions, and who also has a reasonable chance to run an effective, winning campaign in the general election.
United we stand, divided we fall. Thompson may not be your ideal candidate, but he can unite the GOP coalition better than any other candidate. A united coalition is a strong coalition, whose members will be energized to work towards the election of their consensus candidate, and go to the polls to vote for him on election day.
Every Republican in the race is a Christian.
Mike *uckabee is just the only one who has nothing else to run on.

Fred Thompson had it right when he said Huckabee's platform is the same as the DemocRats!

Most comparisons are just right there front and center ... but the eeriest one is how they both tie their religious beliefs to their Israel policy and mention visits to the Holy Land. You have to think hard to remember that Carter ran as a pro-Israel candidate in 1976 (he sure has evolved on that one) and spoke with reverence about that land. Huckabee has done exact same thing.
That is ... eerie.
Anybody who doesn’t think Thompson doesn’t help McCain, just look at the latest S.C. polls. All of Thompson’s gains have been at Huckabee’s expense, while McCain’s support remains unchanged.

To Evangelicals, no one who supports abortion is a Christian. That cuts Guiliani. And Romney is a Mormon.
Huck is far more of a stalking horse than Thompson.
I see a McCain/Huck ticket coming out of this too.
Not true. Christians will ‘know’ them by their fruits and NOT what they say.
Better McCain than *uckabee.
Better anyone than *uckabee.
McCain’s support is just that of the frontrunner.
That’s why it’s so important for Mitt Romney to win Michigan tomorrow and deflate John McCain.
Fred will be the beneficiary of a Romney win.
So all Fred supporters in Michigan need to vote for Romney tomorrow.
Don't play a cliff game with us. You should've supported Thompson over Huckabee. (See how that works?) It's not Thompson's fault that Huckabee's actual record is not inspiringly conservative.
If McCain or Giuliani gets the nomination and Huck signs up for Veep for either one, are you going to remind us how conservative Huck is?
