Sen. McCain and illegal immigration
The Washington Times ^ | January 14, 2008 | Editorial

Posted on 01/14/2008 9:31:53 AM PST by Gritty

... there is indeed much to admire about Sen. John McCain ... this has not been the case with his disingenuous blustering on illegal immigration — particularly when his cosponsorship of mass-amnesty legislation with Sen. Edward Kennedy is raised...

(snip)

...it doesn't give Mr. McCain the right to shut people up when they ask legitimate questions about his immigration record — which includes cosponsoring legislation to permit illegal aliens to pay lower in-state tuition rates denied to some students that are in the country legally, supporting Social Security benefits for illegals and voting against an amendment last year that would have permanently barred gang members, terrorists and other criminals from the United States.

In a Jan. 5 debate, Mr. McCain declared that anyone who says he supported amnesty is "a liar, is lying."

(snip)

Following is a partial listing of some of Mr. McCain's troubling actions on illegal immigration:

Supporting mass amnesty...

Supporting in-state tuition for illegal aliens...

Voted to kill border fence...

Voted against permanently barring gang members and terrorists from the United States...

Voted in favor of Social Security benefits to illegal aliens who commit identity fraud...

For my own part, I’ll never forget his spectacularly arrogant “lettuce-picking” speech of two years ago to a union audience.

McCain has been a traitor to this party. I could never vote for him.

His candidacy would destroy any future or need to embrace the GOP.

The conservative webzines are now graciously listing for us the multitude of McCain’s sins. They are many and egregious.

John McCain

McCain not only voted for, but sponsored an immigration bill to blocked ALL chances of deporting illegals. He voted yes on bills for amnesty, guest worker programs, visas, and citizenship. Actively worked against citizens to allow more illegal workers to U.S. He has a ‘READABLE’ record on his position on border control.

Supports the Dream Act – tuition grants and waivers for illegals education

McCain sponsored with Sen. Kennedy the twice defeated amnesty bill not knowing the number he was making citizens, nor the cost to the taxpayers for such a citizenship bill.

Tancredo states “McCains record indicates he would not be tough on illegal immigrants”. He has built a career in Congress being a supporter of illegal aliens.

Mrs. Cindy McCain’s family are distributors for Anhauser Busch Beer. John McCain’s views on the fence, enforcing immigration laws, stopping the magnets of jobs and benefits in the U.S. for illegals changed overnight when he re-married Cindy, AZ citizens say. Mrs. Cindy is an admitted drug user, and committed fraud to obtain prescription drugs using her employees names – yet escaped conviction.

McCain is a current member of Council on Foreign Relations. His advisors include Bernard Aronson, Max Boat, Henry Kissinger. He supports actively their agenda of One World Order.

He says “He will aggressively promote global trade liberalization at the world trade Organization and expand U.S. free trade agreements to friendly nations.” “He intends to develop a common energy policy with the European Union and create a transatlantic common market and institutionalizing cooperation on issues of climate change, foreign assistance, and democracy promotion.”

McCain is well ahead in Michigan in the polls (not always to be trusted.)

If he wins the GOP nomination we’re done. I’ll quite the GOP. I am sick to death on the spineless back stabbing on illegal immigration. If illegals get amnesty I will literally start picking and choosing the laws I will abide by and if I’m arrested I will demand the same treatment illegals have been getting.

If this party scams us into McCain, they best pick up tons of independents and Democrats.

This conservative vote will never go his way.

Illegal immigration will be the defining issue in the 2008 election.

Democrats are all for illegal immigration, open borders, and amnesty. More Democrat voters (already equal in number to the population of New York, which is a BIG state) will guarantee their lock on political power for the next 30 years, after which the Hispanic Party will become the alternative, the Republicans long since following the Whigs.

A McCain candidacy (or Huckabee) would remove this one defining issue from the campaign debate. It will give the Democrats a free ride on immigration. They won’t be asked to justify it to the American voters because a McCain won’t bring it up.

That Republican voters would pick McCain or Huckabee and thus toss aside the one big issue that separates the parties (the war is no longer on the front burner and will further recede as success grows) would affirm that the party has lost its compass and no longer deserves to exist.

Enjoy our superpower status and our number one position. It won’t last long, and soon we will be a third world giant, like Brazil or Mexico or Indonesia, focused inward on our domestic constituencies and tribal politics.
