I once tried to engage a true global-warming believer in debate about the very points in this article and about the global ice age hysteria that she and her lib friends put forth in the 70's. The response? "I don't get into debates with deniers!"

I once went to the most northern parts of Finland.
Way to the north at lake Inari I took a lake ride.
And who happened to sit next to me but a couple from CA.
We spent the entire boat ride arguing about Global Warming.

My basic point was the earth goes in cycles and how do we know that we are not in a warming cycle right now.

He said islands are being overtaken by the sea.
I asked him if maybe the islands could have previously been under the sea.
He said the ice in greenland was melting.
I said that there used to be farmers on greenland.

Eventually we just stopped talking all together.

Kind of sad really, I had just spent 2 weeks with no one to talk to except my wife and the only people who happen to show up are freakin CA liberals.

When I challenged a TV newsreader for one of the stations in NYC - all she could do was scream that she knew all the ‘facts’ from the scientists that gave them lectures at the TV station. She wouldn’t read ANY of the conflicting reports. A real maroon!

Meanwhile, those same people who are putting together the next Kyoto in Bali, Indonesia added 4.07 metric tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

You know why they went to Bali, don't you?

They didn't want to risk the bad publicity of being trapped somewhere in a Global Warming Snowstorm.

That doesn’t make sense. Anytime a debate takes place it is between two sides who disagree on a topic. If she does not debate with deniers, then she does not debate. Tell her to stick her head back in the sand.

That’s better than “you should be killed for denying global warming”.

We actually did an interview with Orson Scott Card and talked with him for about an hour on the subject of global warming. He said a lot of really interesting things, but the thing he said that I thought was the best is “Al Gore is a liar”.

It’s probably a good thing he has tenure at the university where he teaches. ;)

Here's something from part I:

Did you know that global warming was the reason there is a decrease in circumcisions in Africa? Oh yeah. It’s getting pretty bad.

It also causes bananas to be destroyed, but also allows them to grow. Global warming causes blizzards (I especially like who paid for that research), cold spells, and frostbite.

There are a few other things global warming is responsible for. It is causing hurricanes, or it might be stopping them. It causes a decrease in snow, and an increase in snow. Plankton population will rise, or or plankton population will decline…or both. Whatever.

Global warming causes mountains to shrink and grow. It causes ice sheets to grow and to melt. And it causes forests to decline and forests to grow.

If that isn’t enough, global warming causes nuclear war, crocodile sex and the end of the American Dream.

And Darfur. Can’t forget that.

It’s craziness like this that makes me shake my head and wonder what else is global warming going to be blamed for. It’s just silly, and it makes me think global warming is being crammed down our throats any which way it can be. Or it is just the new Boogeyman, being used to scare people into submission. And since when does science need a Boogeyman?

They are OK - I like Mars warming especially - but scientifically this is thin gruel. Mostly all journalist level stuff.

How about -

Because the Stefan Boltzmann law has not been repealed by act of international congress.
Because the heat capacity of the oceans is too darn big for a few tenths of a degree C to move it an inch, and is in thermal contact with the tiny atmosphere supposedly warming so much.
Because you can't keep CO2 in the atmosphere for hundreds of years - it has a residence time in days and is in equilibrium with dissolved carbon in the oceans
Because the upper atmosphere isn't warming as predicted
Because nobody can name the power source sufficient to cause 3-5C warming, every term ever IDed coming to only a tenth of that
Because the directly measured terms match the scale of warming actually seen, on a "null" hypothesis about any hidden "amplifiers"
Because if there were such amplifiers, they'd amplify natural variation (aka the weather) not just CO2
Because the whole theory was designed to account for ice ages, but we now know other factors account for those
Because CO2 changes trail temperature changes in geological scale warming events, not the reverse
Because every factor ever alleged by the warming theorist to date has been checked by real scientists, and the extra alleged power terms are all 1-2 orders of magnitude too small and their signs are random - but the warmer's predictions haven't moved an inch in response.

The term "Global Warming" is obsolete... it's in Al Gore's new book. He got tired of all the Global Warming conferences being cancelled because of snow storms.
