The Slice of the Sliver Speaks (Rush predicted the MSM would denigrate Iowa)
New York Times ^ | 3 January 2008 | Gail Collins

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:36:35 AM PST by shrinkermd

...As the presidential candidates tell them every single day, Iowans deserve to be the nation’s kingmakers because they are exceptional citizens who take their responsibilities very, very seriously. So tonight, even though it’s very cold — even though it’s Hokies vs. Jayhawks in the Orange Bowl — the sturdy Iowa voters will pull on their parkas and go out to fulfill their historic destiny. Perhaps as many as 15 percent of them!

“Money will become irrelevant once somebody wins the Iowa caucus,” said John (I Currently Have No Money) Edwards. “The winner of the Iowa caucus is going to have huge amounts of money pouring in.” Edwards, the Democratic third-runner, has spent more time in Iowa than many Iowans, who have a tendency to flee to Florida in the winter.

People, ignore whatever happens here. The identity of the next leader of the most powerful nation in the world is not supposed to depend on the opinion of one small state. Let alone the sliver of that state with the leisure and physical capacity to make a personal appearance tonight at a local caucus that begins at precisely 7 o’clock. Let alone the tiny slice of the small sliver willing to take part in a process that involves standing up in public to show a political preference, while being lobbied and nagged by neighbors.

Rush predicted that if Hillary looked like a loser the MSM would rally by minimizing the importance of the Iowa Cauci. What a call!

Hildabeast is fading fast, Lord willing she will come in third. The only way the MSM can try and negate reality is to play the new “Iowa doesn’t REALLY count/matter” card. As usual, Rush is right. Man does he have the MSM pegged.

If Hillary! comes in third in Iowa and loses New Hampshire, she is going to have the stink of a loser, and the Round-Heeled Media will have no choice but to report the biggest political story in a decade, the Collapse of Hillary Clinton. Nobody can afford to ignore a story this big.

Rush also predicted that the MSM would move from supporting Huckabee to supporting McCain.

A large number of posters on here will be doing the same thing if their favored candidate doesn’t get a favorable result.

Don't know when Rush predicted that if Hildabeast started looking like a loser the MSM would rally minimizing the importance of the Iowa Caucus... BUT I posted this yesterday... It's pre-caucus rallying behind the loser...

Should Hillary Clinton have skipped Iowa?

I dont know, they have ignored alot bigger stories.

I guess we shall see. The fact that they will be able to get all excited about The Rise of Obama will help ease the pain.

Even though I believe Hillary is beatable in the general,

I’d rather she not even get that close to the Whitehouse.

OK, I figured it out. The Fall of Hillary! Clinton will be portrayed as the necessary sacrifice to atone for our national sins of racism and prejudice that will permit The Rise of Obama. That way Hillary! can be imbued with Christ-like holiness and nobility, even in defeat.

You got that right. You have to beat the Clintons early and often. They have more lives than an cat.

"People, ignore whatever happens here."

Rush is probably right on this. Gail Collins is probably a Hillary supporter who sees alarming poll numbers for her favorite, so is issuing a pre-emptive dissing of the Iowa vote.

“Even though I believe Hillary is beatable in the general,

I hear ya. Hillary has the money and organization, not to mention total lack of scruples, to cheat and cheat big in the general. No way she wins in a fair fight, but it won’t be a fair fight. She needs to be taken out now.

Edwards, the Democratic third-runner, has spent more time in Iowa than many Iowans, who have a tendency to flee to Florida in the winter.

I am only guessing but the Iowans that "...have a tendency to flee to Florida in the winter..." is probably around 3-5%. Standard liberal inflation to try to make a claim that even Iowans can't deal with Iowa year round.

Notice how Collins disses Edwards for claiming that the winner of Iowa gets a surge of donations by giving him the pet name "John (I Currently Have No Money) Edwards" so as to equate a candidate's war chest as the only barometer for validity ie. Hillary has the biggest so she is the most valid.

It's funny to see Collins attempting to downplay the stature of Iowa (for better or worse) in the process by ignoring the countless statements by Hillary of it's importance bolstered by the amount of time she has spent there.

Hillary is slowly but surely deflating but she has alot of money to burn still and will surely not go quietly.
