:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Still in Control

Pervez Musharraf was calm, confident and—despite a flurry of rumors—not about to announce his resignation. Instead, the Pakistani president's "concession" to his troubled nation was an announcement that he would allow Britain's Scotland Yard to help local law enforcement agencies with their investigation into last week's assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Speaking in a nationally televised address two hours after Pakistan's election commission announced the postponement of the ballot to Feb. 18, six weeks later than had been scheduled, Musharraf was notably deferential in his remarks about Bhutto, often invoking her "martyrdom" and extolling her liberal democratic credentials. "May she go to heaven," he said. "I stand for the same things she said." Read More

Wowser — a barrier fence.
Now, that’s common sense.

Amen to that!!!!!!!!!!!

Dubai apparently has taken giant steps to secure itself and has evidentally done so without fanfare.

Also, fyi, The U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi will be closed to the public on Thursday, January 10 in observance of Islamic New Year.

Prayers continuous for you and Mr. RR.

We had what I believe were big cat tracks around the basement windows in front of the house, but the snow melting and refreezing makes that task very difficult. We have housecats that sit on the inside window sill (potential tasty morsels? Not if I can help it!)

Usually these winter storms impact your area pretty severely, but I'm not seeing that this year either. That's definitely not a good sign for upcoming months for your area.

Thanks for the info and links Fred. I don’t know who is more frightening, Obama or Hillary.

It’s not much of a choice I agree. I’m tempted to wonder if there’s a chance Hillary can redeem herself by exposing what Obama really is. I know the Left will come down on her like the proverbial ton of bricks...but she has to choose. Is she an American first, or simply a marxist tool?

My comments may seem odd...but remember, I’m an aussie and speaking from a distance.

I sure wish it would snow here.

Last night was quite something. Being from the Dallas area I am use to tornadoes, but nothing on this scale, they just kept firing over the same area. The local weather were on straight for 12 hours from 5 yesterday until 5 this morning.

80 tornado warnings for southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas. We spent the night in the closet.

So I am off to bed soon. LOL

Cat tracks, even in melting snow, will be rather roundish, unlike dogs, wolves and deer. But, I’m sure you know that. Keep your kitties sitting on the window sill.

Regarding the continued drought here, we have already had “red flag” alerts this month. I hate to see what summer might have in store for us.

I’m really concerned about our President’s trip to the mideast. I fear he will be exposing himself to unnecessary risk. Prayers up.

Yes, interesting times.

I would hate to see any more Americans have problems in Iran.

Well, I’ll be RR, I sure didn’t know that.

I’ll pray for your you and your husband and I’m glad you both are recovering.

Hmmm...if the Mountain Lion was there once, it will probably come back unless it was in transit.

Your comments don't seem odd at all. I appreciate a perspective "from a distance".

IMO Hillary has never been American first. She has always been Hillary first. She would sell America's soul to the devil if it would feed her narcissism.

Neither Obama or Hillary will be good for America or the free world. Hopefully we won't have to confront that but I do feel the future of the grand experiment called the US of A is at a major crossroad.

Get some rest dryman’s wife.

I remember one time after a bad earthquake; staying real close to the exit of the front of the house on our old farm. I understand how tiring that can make one.

We used to live in south west Missouri. I know all about those nights in the closet.......and the ice storms. Still, an odd time of year for the tornadoes. Hope you have a better night’s sleep tonight.

A kind of funny, but scary, story about our hospital stay. The nurse came in to give me a shot. I asked what it was. She said,”Insulin, your sugar levels are really high.” I told her that she should check again. Mr. RR has diabetes, but not me. She re-checked the orders and found that she had the wrong Rushmore Rocks. It’s a good thing that I was cognizant enough to question it.
