Why Academia Leans to the Left
Creation Evolution Headlines ^ | December 26, 2007

Why do PhDs in academia tend to be politically liberal? A paragraph in Science magazine’s feature “Random Samples” on December 21 suggested a reason: conservatives value other goals, like going into business to make money, or choosing to stay home and raise a family...

...

It appears that conservatives are the fittest, working hard to pass on their genes, while liberals are like parasites, advancing primarily by taking over the host (the classroom) and churning out clones to infect other cells. A university setting is a contrived, unnatural environment where the parasites thrive. In the open air of true academic freedom, where the parasites would have to compete in the real world, the results might be quite different...

Insulated Institutionalized Thinkers struggling to find the “inner truth” to all the reality around them, professors quickly turn into “Goreacles” to justify their relevance...

Academia has become the saddest thing in the world...

Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.

They try to “find” a greater truth while totally rejecting THE source of objective truth. Yes, indeed, truly a sad thing to observe.

“leans left” — who are they kidding? They’re way beyond leaning left. They are rabid neo-Marxiswt, pro-Communist, pro-degenerate, anti-Western, anti-Christian, anti-Semitic, anti-decency, anti-American, anti-human nut jobs.

‘Why do PhDs in academia tend to be politically liberal?’

The answer, oddly enough, is found in the movie ‘Ghostbusters’.

‘You’ve never been in the real world...they expect results!’

Dan Akryod, explaining the difference between University funded projects, and the private sector, to Bill Murray’s character.

Thomas Sowell once pointed out that liberals dominate academia and the media because these are two institutions where people don’t have to pay a price for their failures.

It’s much simpler than all of this. Academics support government solutions because it’s natural for them to. They are on the government payroll.

Here in the Hazleton School district their is a petition for a “charter” school. This school would be a high school located in Drums PA to alleviate the overcrowding of the Hazleton High School.

Anyway I was watching a interview with the two people that put this petition for the school together and the curriculum is “Math” and Science “Global Warming”. I was livid but then again glad my daughter will be attending a Catholic school when she starts 9th grade.

This school is a liberal moonbat future institution. What can learning about the fallacy of Global Warming possible do to make a child be a big money earner in the future? The interviewer of the two moonbats did not even call them on the Science curriculum of Global Warming. Can you imagine sending your kid to a high school that is going to teach them a fable Science?

Tens of Thousands of draft dodgers ran to the colleges during the Vietnam war to get a college deferment. They became career students and eventually got teaching positions.

Not always. I have some fantastic teachers along the way. But I will agree that they were few and far between.

I’m not sure that’s the correct explanation, but it is entertaining.

I suspect the correct explanation is that the liberals are in favor of government control of everything, which is a philosophy that inevitably puts the elites in powerful places. Those in academia know that they are the elites, and that they will necessarily benefit by the concentration of power in the hands of a few.

Basically the same reason that Hollywood and the dinosaur media leans left:

They live in a world of theory and make believe. They don't deal with the world as it is, but with how they think it should be.

In addition, they have their own Mafioso which keeps any contrary or dissenting opinion out of their bubble.

Don’t forget that while liberals claim to be against all forms of discrimination, once they get into a position of power, they have no problem hiring only those who are doctrinaire leftists.

That kind of begs the question -

do they hide out where the incentives of a natural free market don’t affect them because they seek to avoid incentives,

or, does their insulation from incentives cause their lack of understanding of incentives?
