Recall the embarrassment Hillary Clinton suffered when she tried to explain she'd been named after Sir Edmund Hillary after he'd climbed Mount Everest -- only to have it pointed out that she had been five years old at that time? Well, she still seems a little confused about her birth date. Here's an interesting passage in today's debate:
Hillary: We've got to enlist the American people the way we did in a previous generation for the Apollo program. As a little girl, I remember being thrilled about that, and feeling there was something I could do. [Shrugs] My fifth-grade teacher said it was to study math and science, but it gave me an idea of actually contributing to my country.
Hillary Clinton was born in 1947. Assuming she started the first grade as a six-year-old as most kids do, she would have been in the fifth grade in 1957-1958. The Mercury program didn't start until 1961, and Apollo started in 1966. John Kennedy didn't even make his speech about going to the moon until she was a teenager, not a "little girl".
It's these tall tales -- trying desperately to make herself seem warm and empathetic -- that demonstrate the phoniness of Hillary Clinton. Her husband can pull this off. She can't, and maybe she should stop trying.
UPDATE: Allahpundit at Hot Air calls Hillary's offer to have a show of hands for global warming her "Tracy Flick" moment. It's a great reference, and dead on. How many know what it is, and do you agree?
Her hypocrisy is stunning.
(as usual)
This sounds like a scripted line so it was a scripted lie.
Pray for W and Our Victorious Troops
More ammo for Obama.....
;-)
She must have gotten it wrong because she was traumatized by those church burnings she witnessed while growing up in Arkansas. Oh wait....
(sigh)
She’s got to learn to keep track of all her lies better than THIS. This “habit” of hers will turn off even “swing voters”.
LOL.
Another old hag who lies about their age...
Hmm. I wouldn’t exactly call this a lie. More like an incomplete reference. She mentioned the Apollo program but the space program had been ongoing for far longer. I think she merely forgot to refer generically to the space program in her second sentence. I’m about her age and I remember being fascinated about space at an early age, even before the space race kicked off.
OK, taking cover over here now. Save your flames, I’ve got my flame retardant jammies on so I won’t even feel it!
When is Hillary lying? When her lips are moving.
Was she held back a few years in grade skool?
“Election” (1999) Reese Witherspoon as Tracy Flick
(Hated the movie, but whatever)
Just to clarify a couple of things:
Project Mercury began on October 7, 1958.
The Apollo program started in 1960 (but did not really get going until Kennedy’s speech in May 1961).
Hillary’s still a liar, but let’s keep our facts straight
Wow, that brings back memories. I think Kirsten Dundst (sp.) was in that too.
Maybe she confused the Apollo Program with Apollo Creed, and herself with her daughter. Maybe she’s just confused.
No, that movie was called “Dick.” Nevermind...
She’s not lying, she’s just old and confused.
