For more than a year, Matthew Murray amassed the weapons and ammunition he used in Sunday's attacks on two religious organizations that left four young people dead.

Murray, 24, began buying weapons in November 2006 from Front Range gun and sporting-goods stores, according to Colorado Springs police, who had the weapons traced by federal authorities.

A large shipment of ammunition was sent to Murray's post office box in Greenwood Village. The shipment was delivered to him but only after authorities had been alerted and determined he could legally possess it.

"Everything was by the book," said a clerk at Robert's Firearms in Aurora who on Nov. 17, 2006, sold Murray his first piece of weaponry, an AK-47 assault rifle, which was

Gunman legally amassed weaponry in year's time

And, what about the other 65 MILLION gun owners in America?

Perhaps if there had been some sort of law about guns, he would have been reluctant to break that law, and then he would never have killed those people. Is that the message?

“He was always very talkative and told me all about his upbringing and the abuse he suffered,” said Lowe in an e-mail, adding that chat logs were saved. “We have been examining the chat logs, and there are many references to Columbine and discussion regarding obtaining guns.”

According to Lowe, DyingChild_65 said “he wanted to live a normal life but couldn’t because of the way the Christian upbringing had messed him up. (Because of his) disregard for the value of human life, I believed him to be psychopathic.”

Another case of psychos not being taken seriously and not being fitted with an appropriate staightjacket.

I assume Jeremy P. Meyer and the Denver Compost are trying to make some point here. Beats the heck out of me what it is though.

So he bought all his 'stuff' in a year, I may buy an equal amount in a day. Depends how much disposable cash I have on hand come Jan.

--I post stuff like this to be sure we know what the enemy will be up to-

-I suspect this will be used as the "poster child", as it were, for more restrictions on buyers--(obviously)

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

Greetings umgud:

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

What a brilliant observation.

I think the point here is, the laws didn’t stop him from amassing the “arsenal” in a year, ergo, the laws aren’t strict enough. Of course, there’s no mention about Colorado recently going shall-issue, which greatly increased the likelihood of that lady being armed and therefore being in a position to stop him. Gunz, you see, can only be used for evil, but never for good. (According to the anti-gun Denver Compost.)

I have heard that the lady wasn’t a “security guard” but merely a private citizen with a CCW, but newspapers can’t bring themselves to say that. She has to be, she simply must be, a professional, doing her job.

Indeed. After all, if this maniac was able to buy the guns legally, then the laws should be changed.

Our government has much to fear from the Second Amendment. I expect the full-on assault of our gun rights will continue unabated.

Sunday afternoon at the guns shows is best. Dealers hate to have to lug all that heavy ammo back to their home store.

Take the girls to the range for a little plinking with the AR15 and SKS? Heck, I can go through a couple of hundred rounds for each real quick.

Don’t take long to go through 80 rds in the M1 Garand either.

Yep I know. I get weekly emails from Cheaper Than Dirt. For what's not 'out of stock', the prices keep climbing.

Come Jan. I 'plan' on getting another 3 handguns, a shotgun and an additional 'eviiiiiil assault rifle' (snicker). The ammo may cost half as much as the weapons themselves. (semi joking)

Thank God that Jeanne Assam was able to “amass” her gun in time.

Has anyone determined what firearm and caliber the Killer Angel used, and what the initial and final ranges were of the engagement?

That a 24 year old can acquire weapons and ammo doesn’t bother me. That a 24 year old can get so down on life after only living 1/3 of it, over something so stupid, does bother me -(hint to kids: don’t like your situation? MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE !)

If I’m not mistaken Murray used a rifle for his murders. He was killed with a handgun. The endless hollering about evil guns is usually about handguns and not rifles or shotguns. Now what do the anti-gun nuts say?

Unfortunately, where I''m at in IL (just out of Mayor Daley's reach in DuPage County) guns shows are now mostly a looooooong way away.
