Iowa Debate Quote: Ambassador Keyes on Giuliani (Vanity)
Iowa Debate | December 12, 2007 | Alan Keyes

Posted on 12/13/2007 1:05:17 AM PST by Kurt Evans

"I think the most important thing is to be absolutely authentic about who you are ... and not to abandon the heritage of the Republican Party as Rudy Giuliani would do, and as I could not follow him in doing."

--Ambassador Alan Keyes (December 12, 2007)

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: alankeyes; gopdebates; ia2008; rudygiuliani
Governor Romney and Governor Huckabee avoided a pointless bloodbath, and Ambassador Keyes offered a concise reminder that a Giuliani nomination would be fatal to the Reagan coalition.

December 12 was a good day for America.

All FOUR of those guys would be bad news, IMHO, Keyes being the least worst.

Well, at least we agree about Giuliani.

This is probably the worst field we’ve had in years. Thompson is the only one that comes close to consistency.

One thing is 100% for sure. Romney will utterly destroy the conservative cause. He is the single worst candidate up there. But only marginally worse than McCain, Giuliani, Huckabee and Paul.

I wish Keyes and other no hopers would get out of the race so we can hear from the real candidates before we have to vote for them.

How dare anyone challenge those party bluebloods right to the throne. How dare anyone challenge the RNC /Bush anointed candidates no matter how liberal they be. Why the nerve of some canidates to ever that think we should ever have open and free elections in a nation as the United States. They need to learn their place like those unwashed conservatives meaning vote and shut up. How dare they not know their place and speak out against wrongs much less actually take a real stand. Such leadership positions must only be granted by the beloved elitist who thankfully always know that liberalism is always best for us. The true followers of the GOP anointed to whom we all must bow down to no matter their past poor records. I say we should run them out of town on a rail. /sarcasm

Keyes was good enough to work for Reagan but not liberal enough for some it seems. What a shame. Every time conservatives run in the party the "We need Moderates or Liberals only" part of the GOP insist only a few of the CHOSEN ONES even be considered.

I like Keyes, but he and Paul and the other also rans are taking time away from potential candidates. There is room for them in early debates, but not now.

It's not even 2008 yet. Every person who runs has the right to be heard. Actually there is still plenty of time for others to come in to the picture and potentially win such as third parties. This election cycle is so pathetic thanks in part to the media and RNC pushing their favorite liberals third parties may be the big winners maybe not this election but next POTUS election cycle. The GOP can be replaced as quick as it was formed. In todays age of communication it can happen much quicker than when it was formed. The media's favorite top four leave a lot to be desired. A liberal former mayor who thinks he's a king, a former governor who is liberal, a former senator who would not stand up to DEMs much less chair his own committee but is a good actor, and a senator who has been Bush's pack mule for all his bad ideas.
