I guess you are right. It is wishful thinking on my part. But somewhere I hope there is a spark of the original American spirit that rebels against dictatorial groups and finds ways to contravene their control. At the same time I imagine there are groups and people dedicated to ensuring that the people are pushed just so far and no further for the moment, the old frog in boiling water bit.
In point of fact, I think most Christians will certainly agree that as the end of days approaches, it will be increasingly more difficult for Christians to stand for their principles against the tide of society.
Isn’t there some high-powered law firm who would help the Boy Scouts fight this on a pro bono basis? That they should be kicked out of the building THEY OWNED is outrageous! They should make the city pay for the building and for its use all these years that the city was getting it for nothing.
Welcome to Property Law I. Philadelphia has a Fee Simple Subject To A Condition Subsequent. That means Philadelphia only owns the land as long as Philadelphia complies with the Condition. In this case the Condition is that, even though it doesn't own the land or the building, that Boy Scout troop can stay at that building for as long as it wants. That's called a Life Estate.
Wasn't there any lawyer working for Philadelphia that could have informed the Idiotic Powers That Be that if they throw out this Boy Scout troop, that troop would sue to get the building and land back ("reversion") because of the violation of the Condition? The Boy Scouts should be racing to the nearest State court.

Yes they did, but the Corrupt Street Adm. is claiming some outrageous city law from 1882. I pray some great lawers take this case. As an Eagle Scout, I can say the Scouting Experience was and continues to be priceless. The Scouts paid for that Buildings Construstion and signed over to the City with the AGREEMENT that it was for their Use in Perpetuity. The City is trying to steal the Building worth millions of dollars today. If only a wealthy Benefactor could come forward and pay the supposed $200,000 the city demands for the land lease which had been #1.00 until We can overrule this outtrage, that will be an Act of God! something the new godless demorats don’t follow. This is an OUTRAGE!
Yes, they did. But the city is saying, "OK, you have a constitutional right to exclude open practicing homosexuals, but you don't hae a constitutional right to a subsidy from the city, which would be the $1 lease."
Ignoring the fact that the BSA built the building, then donted it to the city in view of a $1 lease in perpetuity. I think the BSA has legal grounds to win this one.
I think it's the girlscouts and brownies that can actually sew the hell out of something.
I do not intend to use Philadelphia for anything. I will not assist that city in booting the scouts. The city is run by thug Democrat liberals. They chase out business. They chase out Boy Scouts of America. They have males roaming the streets that need to be involved in scouting. These people are devoid of any character or ethics. Nothing will change under the new mayor. Same old liberal mess.
Perhaps their paying a $1 yearly lease fee nullified the “rent free” nature of the agreement.

The Building is Gorgeous! It is the Headquarters for the Philadelphia BSA. Hopefully this will cause a backlash of OUTRAGE against Street and his band of Thugs.I’ll be calling immediately to offer all the help I am able to provide!
Sad that the Scouts didn’t have enough sense to retain title to a structure that they themselves owned.
Why would they turn this over to the City of Philadelphia?

If the Scouts originally owned the building and turned it over to the city on the understanding of a $1 lease in perpetuity, it seems to me that they have standing to sue the city for the return of their building, the city having reneged on the agreement.
When I see this kind of heavy handed abuse of public trust I wonder why we don’t see wealthy conservatives, lawyers and law firms stepping forward to protect the interests of persecuted conservatives either with financial support or pro-bono legal aid.
There must be some conservative lawyers left even in a liberal crazed city like Philadelphia.
Crazy leftists never seem to lack plenty of lawyers willing to take up the liberal cause.

I remember 25 years ago when the media and liberals tried to destroy the Scouts with story after story about the scouts having gay scoutmasters who were all going to destroy the innocent scouts.
Now they are trying to destroy the scouts because the scouts don’t allow in homosexuals.
