Climate Bill Will Devastate American Families and Jobs
Human Events ^ | December 10, 2007 | James Inhofe

For the first time in history, a fatally flawed global-warming cap-and-trade bill passed out of the United States Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee. Democrats, led by Chairman Barbara Boxer (D.-Calif.), approved the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2007 (S 2191) by a vote of 11 to eight December 5.

Serious Flaws

While the outcome of the vote in committee was never in question -- since Democrats hold the majority -- it did provide Republicans the opportunity to expose many of the serious flaws of this bill. The fact is this bill is simply all economic pain for no climate gain: Numerous analyses have placed the costs at trillions of dollars. Even if one accepts the dire claims of man-made global warming, this bill will not have a measurable impact on the climate.

The Watermelons' real goal is to destroy the US economy and our freedom through monstrosities like Kyoto.

That's how the scam works. The idea is to destroy what is left of capitalism and impose total rule from the top. It has nothing to do with the climate. Everyone with any sense knows humans don't control the climate.

I’d like everyone to really think about this for a moment:

We’re talking about CHANGING THE CLIMATE!!!!

We couldn’t do that if we tried.

I am willing to eat less Taco Bell to alleviate climate change but that is as far as I am willing to go.

Who are the idiots who vote for the Democratic party? It is beyond me. I mean, sure, leftist college students and leftist union leaders and leftist media personnel and leftist university profs and leftist bureaucrats... yeah, that’s a lot of people, but not THAT many! What about the vast majority of people who vote Democrat? Do they WANT economic slowdowns? Do they WANT loss of jobs and opportunity?

Who are they and where do they come from?

If the climate can be controlled. Why are we having a drought here in North Carolina?

I think we should wait and do what they do on Mars since they have the same problem.

Bush's Fault. Also, likely the fault of Freepers for not buying enough of AlGore's Carbon Credits.

Also, if you need to ask that question, then you obviously don't understand Global Warm...er, Global Cool...er, Climate Change.

Droughts = Man Made Climate Change

Floods = Man Made Climate Change

High Temps = Man Made Climate Change

Low temps = Man Made Climate Change

Temperature stays the same = worry about Man Made Climate Change

Most of them don’t even pay attention - they just vote Democratic because their grandparents voted for FDR..... and Republicans are evil, greedy people who will throw granny out on the street by ending Social Security and starve inner city kids by cutting off school lunch programs and return to segregated buses and rest rooms.

The purpose of this type of legislation is to realize the dream of the left: bring down capitalism. Unfortunately that would bring down everybody.

Climate Bill Will Devastate American Families and Jobs

I am sure that is the goal. The American economy has to be suppressed for the benefit of Earth. Life spans have to be reduced, therefore some form of socialized medicine has to be imposed. Having children has to be made more expensive and difficult. It marks one as a nut to identify the mainstream Democrats as Communists and is organizationally probably not quite correct. The effect on America of the Democrats being in power will be very similar to the effect of electing old time Reds.

The Communists in Russia went all out to build the economy there and ruined it instead. Our own reds mean to destroy the economy from the first, or rather to "tame" it and make it docile and in the control of the reds. The effect will be to destroy it because that kind of control of an economy is inherently destructive.

Exactly. The goals in the bill are impossible to implement. And the bill ignores growing evidence that human activity is at best, peripheral to global warming on the planet which is the result of natural factors. But that hasn't deterred the Democrats from pushing ahead with it.

The Republicans need to demand that the supporters of this bill explain, with a modicum of accuracy, the predicted affect of each separate action on both the climate and the economy, site scientific sources to back up their statements.

It’s called the Data Quality Act. If our congress passes any type of CO2 emission limitation, I’ll be supporting any lawsuit to to make them prove that CO2 is causing global warming (climate change).

"...less Taco Bell"

It's OK to have a few musicians, just as it is to light all one's menora candles or endure cows in the meadow. Now if we start talkin' Catholics or Mexicans, we might be getting into territory where at least the meter starts jiggling occasionally.
