Take two! Senate intelligence committee chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) had said yesterday that the CIA told him about its destruction of videotaped interrogations in "November 2006." But oops -- in a new statement just released to the press, he says he spoke too soon. It turns out he knew about the tapes' existence in 2003, but only found out about their destruction yesterday. Rocky:
"Last night, the CIA informed me that it believes that the leadership of the Senate Intelligence Committee was told of the decision to destroy the tapes in February 2003 but was not told of their actual destruction until a closed committee hearing held in November 2006. "The committee has located no record of either being informed of the 2003 CIA decision or being notified late last year of the tapes having being destroyed. A review of the November 2006 hearing transcript finds no mention of tapes being destroyed.
"While the existence of the videotapes was known to me in 2003 in my capacity as then-Vice Chairman of the committee, I was not told of the CIA’s decision to destroy the tapes and I was not aware of their destruction until yesterday’s press reports."

It’s amazing that someone of this caliber is in charge of anything important. He is a hack. He full well knows what is going on but chooses to only remember in a way that hurt Bush’s policies.
Jane Harman also knew and supposedly sent a letter “asking them not to destroy the tapes”.
My first thought was how worthless he is, just a POS. How this man ever acquired the power he has escapes me. It can only be the family fortune that has kept him in office. He proves time after time that is is ignorant and worthless as a sitting US Senator.
Well, if Jane Harman asks them not to destroy the tapes, that must mean that they knew about it.
Rockefeller and Harman should get the stories straight before someone in the MSM actually put two brain cells together and risks losing their job by asking about the two different versions of the story.
One of these Dim Senator slugs is lying, probably both!
Out of 1,300 articles I was only able to find 2 that set the record straight on these 2 knowing.
I heard on Fox news that Rockefeller’s staffer was in a meeting which discussed the tapes but apparently he did not see it important enough to brief ole Jay bird.
Jay Rockefeller - the man who couldn’t leak straight. Remember his ham-fisted performances in the run-up to the Iraq war?
Even the DC press, used to covering for incompetent ‘anonymous’ sources, couldn’t protect him so blatant were his transgressions.
Perhaps Jay was in Syria delivering intel.

Rockefeller is a humorless Uriah Heep. If he has a single redeeming human value it has yet to be demonstrated. He has proved, however, just how easy it is to buy West Virginia. And the mountain morons once bought, stay bought.
