Sweet Caroline
Sweet Caroline Lyrics
» Neil Diamond
Where it began, I can’t begin to know when
But then I know it’s growing strong
Oh, wasn’t the spring, whooo
And spring became the summer
Who’d believe you’d come along
Hands, touching hands, reaching out
Touching me, touching you
Oh, sweet Caroline
Good times never seem so good
I’ve been inclined to believe it never would
And now I, I look at the night, whooo
And it don’t seem so lonely
We fill it up with only two, oh
And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulder
How can I hurt when holding you
Oh, one, touching one, reaching out
Touching me, touching you
Oh, sweet Caroline
Good times never seem so good
Oh I’ve been inclined to believe it never would
Ohhh, sweet Caroline, good times never seem so good

HOw old was Caroline and how old was Neil?
He is being creepy here .. fantasizing about her.
That’s why this is just BS...he met her, he wanted to impress her..because the lyrics just dom’t add up. If it is true, Diamond would be considered a perv by today’s standards..or any standards, I guess. And I don’t think he is. I think Neil is one of the more decent guys.
why do you have to assume he is speaking of touching in a physical sexual way? Do you now hold your children? Do you not touch each other’s souls?
CREEPY!
*shutter*
It's just a song, and he quite possibly made up both the song and this story.
Well, she was over twenty by the time he actually wrote the song.
Now, isn’t that special.
Completely creepy. I looked up the lyrics as well. They are romantic . . .
Ack.
Yeah...I am really creeped out now!! This is just weird.
Never having heard it, at least not knowingly, I can’t speak to the musical structure of this song. But the lyrics are beneath pathetic any way you slice ‘em.
I believe this makes him a pedophile.
Written by - Jim Croce
Well, she was standing by my dressing room after the show
Asking for my autograph and asked if she could go
Back to my motel room. But the rest is just a tragic tale
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail
Well, like a fool in a hurry I took her to my room
She casted me in plaster while I sang her a tune
Then I said, "Ooh, ooee!" Sure was a tragic tale
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail
Well, then a judge and a jury sat me in a room
They say that robbin' the cradle is worse than robbin' the tomb
Then I said "Ooh, ooee!" Sure was a tragic tale
(Wasn't worth it, wasn't worth it!)
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail
And when I get out of this prison gonna be forty-five
I'll know I used to like to do it but I won't remember why
(Wasn't worth it, wasn't worth it!)
I'll say "Ooh, ooee! Sure was a tragic tale
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail"
Because five short minutes of lovin'
Done brought me twenty long years in jail"
I feel a song coming on.
Neil the Pedophile.
I can honestly say that until now, I had no idea what the lyrics were. Just a bunch of ‘holding’ and ‘Caroline’. Pretty creepy when the inspiration was 5 years old...
Actually, this seems like a MADE-UP story by Neil to ingratiate himself to the Kennedy’s. It reeks more like Hillary saying her mom named her after Sir Edmund Hillary....LIE.
Diamond wasn’t “fantacizing” about a little girl!
When he saw the picture and its quaint innocence and beauty, it made him happy and he wrote a song based on that exuberance. You obviously don’t know anything about songwriting. It can be very sub-conscious. Everything doesn’t have a direct correlation in art.
I think you’re the one fantacizing. Who’s the pervery here? lol
