Wasn’t there a similar staging back in 2000 or 2004? I remember something about a Democrat ‘debate’ where a college student was prompted to ask the panel of candidates ‘boxers or briefs?’ or some similar inane drivel.

A little further back than that. It was during an MTV Q&A of Slick in the 90s.

That was originally 1992, on an MTV interview of Bill Clinton. But yeah, I do remember someone asking that in 2000 or 2004.

The Boxers or Briefs girl was from the Clinton campaign. I think it was Viacom-MTV. Her mom was a journalist (thus the invite) I think for SeeBS.

They discussed what she should ask and settled on a question about legalizing recreational drugs. The Clinton campaign nixed that and asked for something lighter, thus the Boxers or Briefs question.
