Nov. 2 was the first time in 3 weeks that our weekly support the troops event at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WR) was not rained on. For over 2 and 1/2 years through rain, snow, cold, wind, and heat FReepers have stood outside the main gate of Walter Reed (WR) every week, having expelled the cruel Code Pink anti-troop hate group from that location about 9 months into the weekly events.
(Here is a web page with the background of the event, which is also a FReep of the venomous Code Pink and their fellow travelers assembled down the block to continue their vicious taunting of wounded troops. It also describes the intense hatred that the venomous Pinkos have for our troops, except those troops who join Pinko efforts. Some photos from past FReeps will be added to the web page.)
We were honored to have a member of Vets for Freedom as well as 11 members of the College Republicans (CRs) of GWU join us.
Our honor roll of those present:
Alicia* of VA, Bill* from MD, Cindy-true-supporter, Coby* from DC (Navy Vet, Vets for Freedom), Fraxinus, Jimmy Valentines brother, Mike S* (father of WR patient Joshua Sparling), Olney-Keith & wife Sara*, PleaDeal, Satin_Patriot (GOE), Sensei Ern, Tankerbabelc, trooprally (Mr. & Mrs.), VictoryNY, and BillF. College Republicans (CRs) who joined us were Brand, Chris, Conner, Dan, Daniel (different than Dan, not a duplicate listing), Jack, James, Krista, Matt, Peter, and Steve. * = lurker
As opposed to our 28 patriots, the Pinkos managed to assemble only about 9 America-hating traitors and their well-meaning, but misguided, dupes at their location down the street.
To some extent, that overstates the imbalance. Only 3 of the CRs had arrived by the time the Pinkos had left.
After meeting the first 3 CRs, I didn't see them as I looked around the FReeper positions at the four corners of the WR main gate. I then saw them approaching the Pinkos down the block.
As recounted by the CRs, words were exchanged between the 3 CRs and the Pinkos. One Pinko demanded to know why the CRs had not yet enlisted in the military, the classic chickenhawk argument, which I will paraphrase as "you're a hypocrite because you want the country to fight in Iraq, but you haven't personally signed up."
(Let's see the chickenhawk argument in another situation where volunteers go into harm's way. One can imagine asking, "do you think that firefighters should have fought the fires headed for the neighborhoods in California last month?" "Yes," answers the peacenik. "You're a hypocrite because you want the country to fight fires, but you haven't personally signed up," would be the response if the chickenhawk argument had any validity whatsoever. Of course, any reasonable person understands that fires should be fought by those who volunteer to do so, get the training, and have the skill.)
One of the CRs told the Pinko that he is on track to go in the military following his education and he has even decided on the military specialty that he will be entering.
Right after the CRs returned from the Pinkos, the Pinkos packed it in for the night. Was it discouragement over the encounter with the CRs that caused the Pinkos to cut, run, and surrender? Probably not, as it was at or near their quitting time.
The 3 CRs told me that eight other CRs had just arrived at the subway stop 7 blocks away. As the Pinkos had already fled into the night, we had to get the remaining eight CRs to the FReep before the bus of wounded troops and family members returned from a restaurant visit for the night. As I quickly drove to the subway station, I wasn't sure that I could fit all of them in my vehicle. Fortunately, the CRs' flexibility allowed all 8 of them to all fit in my vehicle for the short trip from the subway station.
trooprally (Mrs.) and PleaDeal took the photos for this evening. Mrs. T's photos start with DSC in the names. All of the fine photos of Mrs. T and PleaDeal are respectively here and here.
Mother of All Banners (MOAB) from across the street
Navy Vet Coby is a member of Vets for Freedom, whereas trooprally (Mr.) is a Gold Star brother with a Marine son in Iraq now
Satin_Patriot holds a sign that troops love to see
Alicia has been at Walter Reed countless times
Sensei Ern and Fraxinus
PleaDeal is a true patriot
It was great to have TankerbabeLC join us
Olney-Keith and his wife, Sara
College Republicans pose at the end of the event
Loonie Line, as PleaDeal had captioned this view of Pinkos at least 40 minutes into their 2 hr blood dance
Highlight of most evenings is when the bus of wounded troops return from a restaurant as FReepers cheer and troops wave in appreciation
If you can't get to D.C. to join us, but would like to do something for the wounded, FReepmail Cindy-True-Supporter or VAFlagwaver for some ideas.
Join us this Friday and you'll be inspired by true heroes, our troops.
Our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere are out on a limb for us basically all year long. Don't let the Pinkos and their allies saw the branch off. Come join us Friday night per below details from 6:30pm to approx 9:30pm.
As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.
Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Please join us. Support the troops and be a part of our peaceful counter-protest to Code Pink.
Don't let the troops think that regular Americans are too busy to spend a few hours standing up for the troops.
Being there with us in spirit is great, but we need people to hold the MOAB (Mother of all banners), other signs, and flags. Maybe you can't come every week, but please make it your patriotic duty to join us at least once in the near future.
Fridays, 6:30 to 9:30 pm Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave., at Elder St., NW, Washington, DC
On street parking is usually easy to find and there is a parking lot at the corner of Georgia and Elder. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride. If you want a ride, FReepmail me, preferably with your cell phone number, as far in advance as possible. If you don't contact me sufficiently in advance, it may be too late to coordinate a Metro ride.
You guys are great.
DC Chapter ping!
Please bump the thread to keep this on top. Also, come out this Friday.
He sees
He cares
He hears our prayers.
And I'm not taking any crap from anyone about using the exact wording they told me.
I am so proud of everyone who comes out on a Friday and keeps that from happening to any other troop.
Amen brother. They sure don’t need that cr^p. You know, when I see all those young conservative people, I am less pessimistic about the future of America. Thanks to all.
The next time you get the: “Why haven’t you signed up for Iraq” routine, say-—”I don’t have time to join the military. I support firefighters, so I joined the fire dept. And I support the police so I joined the police force. And I drive a car, so I got a job on an oil rig to support the oil workers. I support education, so I’m a teacher too. My time is filled.”
WHOOPEE! Another great Freep and report.
Thank you so much for all you do there!
Bttt
A bump with thanks
Wow, this is beautiful. If the pink losers had any sense at all, they would wish they had never gone there, having evoked this. Just hypothetically.
Great job. Keep hammering code stink.
Somebody famous once said, “As ye have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Keep at it; you’re doin’ The LORD’S work out there.
It's not fair to use logic on the dain bramaged pinkos....you know they can't process it. Have you no shame?
One Pinko demanded to know why the CRs had not yet enlisted in the military, the classic chickenhawk argument, which I will paraphrase as "you're a hypocrite because you want the country to fight in Iraq, but you haven't personally signed up."
The first time I heard that lame line was at the William & Mary FReep http://www.itsjustalife.com/FReep.html
The student supporter standing beside me had returned from Afghanistan and was attending on the GI Bill.
They are just cowards that can’t admit their own fears.
I loved the report & so nice to see the college folks do something great like this on a Friday night. I recall my college life & Friday & Sat was spent going downtown (bar hopping) for a majority of the students. Extra kudos to the three who decided to confront the Pinkos.. I am sure to a degree their impressions against the left were strengthened from that encounter.
Pix are always fun & it is hard to get good ones at night with limited light.
Flipped out ping if you be aksin’ me, jack. Not to worry (since I don’t), but its still quite flipped out.
The secret “ping-list”, that’ll drive the loon-bats nuts.
And? So? Never got that answer: how come you guys ain’t wearing shorts anymore?
Does have that nasty habit of zappin’ through them parts, eh?
Just for the record, I’m not advocating any sort of whatever. All I know is that last week I made mention to that to the handful of us that were outside chokin’ down some nicotine sticks, and one made the mention it was “cold”. I told him he was clueless (17 Deg. C. was the rec high-low).
According to my records for the month of November:
Wash D.C. records are 9/86 as being min/max. (44.1/58.3 avg min/max) and 0.7” avg./11.5” max (snow) precip.
At this time, next Fri looks like it could be about as good shorts weather as it ever will be until next March.
All I have to say is that if you, like me, are one that demarcats one year from the next based on the last shorts-day, well, then get ready.
Other than that, Eagles UP!
Well done, heroes, all of you.
Excellent report, and I note that the CPer is holding a non-defaced American flag. Even though they probably consider it a hypocritical gesture, I am amused when I think that they have been forced to consider associating with Old Glory.
