Trustees of a school district in Bakersfield, Calif., will decide Monday night whether to allow posters bearing the nation's motto In God We Trust and other historical documents to be displayed in district classrooms.
Among the documents to be voted on are the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Kern County High School District trustees initially proposed the measure as a way of promoting patriotism. But the proposal has sparked contentious debate.
Board President Bob Hampton, a former teacher in the district, told the L.A. Times that he'll vote against the posters because they reflect a "spiritual agenda."
"The spiritual side of students belongs at home and at church, not in the educational system," Hampton said.
Other Bakersfield residents said there's nothing wrong with posting the nation's motto on classroom walls even if it does mention God.
"Most kids in Bakersfield already have that seed planted, but for the others, it couldn't hurt," Malia Casarez told the Times. "My daughter is just 9 months old and I'm already scared of sending her to school, with all the things you hear about."

I guess whether or not to accept U.S. currency in the form of aid from the federal government if “God” appears on the bill.
Maybe they could vote on how they’re gonna come up with funds to replace the federal and state funds that would be forfeited should they decide to yank that inconvenient you know who out of the classroom entirely. (/Dreamin’.. I know)
Might be a good time for them to take a look at the establishment clause.
Yeah, I imagine they don’t have any problem with gov’t issued currency, even if they have to hold their noses as they bank it and pay it out.
Good question and I believe the answer is “YES”. This type of thing fits well with communist goals. Take over the schools and indoctrinate the young.
Have at it. I’ll check back later after the people defending PUBLIC SCHOOLS have ample time to respond.
If “In God We Trust” is barred from the schools then we should respect that rule and cut off all funding for the school district and the teachers. Wouldn’t want to offend them by paying them with money that says “In God We Trust” on it, would we?
Zactly.
-if they vote it out, cut off federal funds. Works for me!
Only until those of us under the oath to defend the Constitution against ALL enemy, foreign AND domestic decide to get up honor our oaths.
The First Amendment guarantees freedom of religious expression and association. Working against that or any other part of our Constitution, as written and amended, in an effort to destroy our culture will eventually be a fatal flaw.
They’ve been pushing hard enough for long enough that there’s nearly no elasticity remaining. No clue what will bring the final snap, but it will come.

BAKERSFIELD ???!!
I’m speechless.
I fail to comprehend why this particular guy's religious beliefs should be enshrined as government policy.
California is so ridiculous it goes beyond reason on any subject; the state is far in the hole if this mortgage collapse continues California could go busted.
I would only mildly protest if the Fed. Gov. tried to bail this States Mental Health Asylum out of financial problems
Oh, for pity’s sake...this is history...it’s time for these people to get a grip.
“The spiritual side of students belongs at home and at church, not in the educational system,” Hampton said.
The man is absolutely wrong.
First of all, not even congress has the authority to prohibit religious expression, or to make laws regarding it. What makes Hampton think he has more authority than congress? He needs to go back to school.
Secondly, the state or its entities has any right to usurp laws given to the federal government by the constitution.
Thirdly, “true religion” is the formation of “Godly character”. Things like honesty, integrity, meeting one’s responsibilities, keeping one’s word, patience, loving one’s neighbor, refraining from selfish indulgence when it harms others. Those very things absolutely belong in school as well as on the job..and then some!
Not only is this man an educated idiot, he spouts off at the mouth regarding things he has no clue about. I say he needs to be fired as a danger to all students and faculty since he doesn’t seem to believe these character qualities belong in school.
