Investigators said nine men were arrested Thursday night in a Sears department store men's room located in the Volusia Mall. "These men would go into the men's room and they would tap their feet, zip their zipper, make all kinds of noises and even reach under the stall," Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said.
|
"The undercover officer told me he actually tried to come under the stall, where he was actually looking up at the undercover officer while he was performing his act," Chitwood said. A 70-year-old man was also arrested during the 10-hour sex sting, police said.
"The bothering thing is that you are coming up on the Christmas season, so you are out there shopping in the mall and your kid wants to run to the bathroom, you have a bunch of sick, degenerate, vile perverts in there doing their thing," Chitwood said. Officers said the sting was prompted by tips from mall security.
"Of course, everybody denies, (and says) 'It wasn't us,'" Chitwood said. "We certainly didn't go there and entice anybody, and we didn't put an ad out."

Senator Craig would be proud...
Taps..........
......a former candidate for mayor.....
Perhaps he thought that this was the fast-track to the Senate?
I’m a heterosexual and I’ve never had sex with a woman in a public bathroom. Why do these perverts have to ruin public bathrooms for decent folks and kids?
Unfortunately malls are breeding grounds for this type of thing especially ones built with hotels in them. This is where the kids are and they are going to be taken advantage of one way or another.

My favorite bird.
A high school health teacher...how nice. I wonder what he has been up to with his pupils. Shaking my head again. Why can't these pervs just stay in the closet & out of the bathrooms? I don't understand why anyone would want sex in a public bathroom with a stranger. They know there are cops looking in bathrooms. Are they thrill seekers or just plain dumb?
Saw this thread and was positive that the pervert Barney Frank would be on the list of those arrested.
I'm an unrepentant, woman-worshipping heterosexual guy as well and I only know of the 'why' aspect of this because I'm involved in healthcare. I'll try to put this delicately....among 'many' homosexuals, there is a particular fascination with fecal material and excretory functionality....I won't go any further into the matter than that because this is a family website.
As to them ruining it for everyone else, they don't care and are hoping to find young children to 'interact' with anyway.
It's utterly vile and disgusting. Please feel Blessed that you don't have the knowledge of this that I do
Thank goodness we have a few people left who are willing to stand up and call it like it is. Sick, degenerate, and vile...kudos to Chief Chitwood. The protests will probably start tomorrow.
It’s a witch hunt. Rub your nose the “wrong” way because it’s itchy and THAT will become a “signal” YOU are looking for “unsavoury mutual behaviours”.
From what little I know, their pledge seems to be anywhere, anyway, anytime, and anybody.
They don’t seem to be a selective bunch.
the full spectrum of men sure contains some interesting species.....
now women...we are boring....
Do not go to the bathroom at Sears.
Come to think of it, avoid Sears entirely.
This looks like the mall just across the street from Daytona Speedway.
Just to give you a point of reference.
I hope the department offers psych counseling to the surveillance officer. Ten hours waiting in a stinky stall waiting for homos to hit on you can rattle your emotional state.
Not always. A few years ago, I was shopping for clothes when a young woman came up to me and started a conversation. After talking for a few minutes, she asked if I wanted to see her twins. Expecting a picture of twin children, I said yes. She lifted her shirt and showed me her...twins.
I just laughed and told her she’d have better luck getting a reaction if she did it to a man.
If you or anyone else would like to send a kind note to Chief Chitwood, or an open letter to Daytona's Finest, you may do so here:

The Daytona Beach Police Department - Message from the Chief
| A Message from Chief Mike Chitwood | |
|
Biography: Michael J. Chitwood
On May 30, 2006, Michael J. Chitwood was sworn in as Chief of Police of the Daytona Beach Police Department. He had previously served for a one year time period as Chief of Police of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Police Department. He went there after serving for 17 years with the Philadelphia Police Department which consists of over 7,000 sworn members and is the fifth largest police department in the nation. During his career with the Philadelphia Police Department, he worked in patrol, tactical, narcotics and detective divisions. He was officially cited 58 times by the Philadelphia Police Department and received commendations for merit, heroism, bravery and the highest award Valor. When he left the department to assume command of the Shawnee Police Department, he had attained the rank of Lieutenant. As Lieutenant, he commanded in the Special Investigations Unit and the Homicide Divisions.
Michael Chitwood received his Bachelors Degree in management from Eastern University in Pennsylvania and is a graduate of the FBINA class of 2004. He is also a graduate of Northwestern Universitys School of Staff and Command.
While serving as Chief of Police of Shawnee, he launched many innovative programs. A bicycle patrol was formed to improve community relations, increase officer visibility, and reduce crime. A Police Foundation was formed to help the department advance in the area of technology. With the foundations help, the department increased training and purchased state of the art AFIS and Polygraph systems. The COMPSAT process was introduced as its crime fighting and crime reduction strategy.
I thought that name sounded familiar:
Chitwood came to Daytona Beach via Oklahoma, but he comes from Philadelphia, where he and his cop father share the city's best-known name in law enforcement. Chitwood has a good reputation.
They sure are giving tap dancing a bad name.
They were born with a homosexual head gene.
I am? I don't think so. In fact I am so disgusted with all this bathroom stuff I hope nobody even puts there foot near my side of the stall. I might stomp on it. However as a woman I feel safer then you men. You itch your nose & it could be you, Don W going off to jail. I guess you best stick to picking it.
How'd that quote go "As it was in the days before Noah ......"?
“Rub your nose the wrong way because its itchy and THAT will become a signal
Do you have a point you are trying to make?
OMG!....too funny....
How'd that quote go "As it was in the days before Noah ......"?
You're quite right, and the more seasoned psychologists will privately agree...it's common knowledge that the American Psychological Association removed homosexuality from it's list of mental disorders entirely for political reasons....there was no scientific research to prompt or justify that change.
And medical professionals in all disciplines have to deal with the universally-negative fallout of homosexuality every single day.
They will go anywhere where there is any slight chance of people, and preferably children, will be disrobing and vulnerable.
It's terrifying to note that many 'parents' send their children off to the mall for the day and expect it to be their babysitter.
What on earth is wrong with people? I am glad you could laugh. I hope I would be able to. But if my young daughter was with me I don't know what I would have done. Maybe knocked her in the "twins" with my pocketbook. I can just see Sassy saying mommy why did that person show you her boobs... I am now trying to think of a good answer in case it ever happens to me. lmao.
They dont seem to be a selective bunch.
All true.
It's utterly disgusting, and as with most bad things in society we can thank the Left for their brazenness. The perverts are fully aware that homosexuals have a special set of rights and they exercise those "rights" to the fullest extent.
Just to give you a point of reference.
That's good to know, thank you.
Hopefully NASCAR fans and particularly parents will be very careful when going off-site....I would imagine that such disgusting behavior as this would never occur within the race facility, as the perp would likely be beaten to death before the police even got near.
I hope the department offers psych counseling to the surveillance officer. Ten hours waiting in a stinky stall waiting for homos to hit on you can rattle your emotional state.
Agreed...what a disgusting assignment for the officer. We can all be thankful that there are people who will deal with such revolting things so that the rest of us can be safe.

Wonderful to hear that the people of Florida are being kept safe by such a stellar Chief and Department. Thanks very much for your research!
I got my psychology degree in ‘71 before the cave-in to political correctness. We actually studied it. But I never used it because being a sounding board for people has always just been something that I’ve been able to do. Getting paid for it just doesn’t seem right to me.
Mom, Dad, Wife and Kids are not going to be happy.......sick.

DAYTONA BEACH -- A former Daytona Beach city commissioner and a local high school teacher were among nine men arrested Thursday during a sex sting in a bathroom at the Volusia Mall, police said.
Detectives arrested former commissioner and mayoral candidate Michael Shallow and David Behringer, an athletic trainer and teacher at Seabreeze High School, according to arrest reports.

"The reason that we did this sting is we all go to the mall; our kids go into the bathroom," Police Chief Mike Chitwood said. "That they could be susceptible to this kind of behavior is absolutely a disgrace."
Also arrested were registered sex offender Douglas Benson, 48, of Port Orange, who was previously caught masturbating in the restroom of a day care center; and Edgar Millard, 73, Daytona Beach, charged in 2006 with sexual misconduct at a beachside bathroom, police said.
Detectives received a tip from officials at the Sears department store that sexual misconduct was taking place in its second-floor men's restroom, Chitwood said.
Further investigation by police found that encounters at local places like Sears were advertised online on Web sites like Craigslist and one that provides links to other sexually explicit sites, Chitwood said.
"This is a clandestine, subculture event," Chitwood said at a Thursday night press conference. "There's a whole culture that runs under the radar doing their thing."
A team of six officers from the Police Department's criminal suppression team joined forces with undercover officers from Volusia County Beach Patrol to nab the offenders from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Beach Patrol regularly deals with similar misconduct at public bathrooms near the beach, Chitwood said.
"Most everything that's occurring is nonverbal," said Sgt. Jeff Hoffman, supervisor of the criminal suppression team.
Offenders coughed or sneezed, tapped their feet, sometimes under the stall beside them, or made loud zipper noises to attract attention from others interested in engaging in sexual acts, Hoffman said.
"It's scumbags like this that erode the quality of life that we have here," Chitwood said. "What scares me is that these are people that we trust to be political leaders, these are people that we trust with our children."
Shallow, 57, served two terms as a city commissioner from 1999-2003 and ran for mayor unsuccessfully in 2003, 2005 and 2007, finishing a distant fourth in the last race Oct. 9.
The Realtor and real estate broker also served as chairman of the Main Street Redevelopment Board in 2004-2005, and was on the Downtown-Ballough Road Redevelopment Board while he was a commissioner.
Daytona Beach Mayor Glenn Ritchey said he was "disappointed and sad and sorry for him and his wife and family."
"There's nothing I can say. I've known him for a long time. I was shocked. It's such a sad thing," Ritchey said.
Neil Harrington, a personal friend of Shallow's, was shocked at the arrest.
"I just can't believe that; I have no indication that Mike would ever be involved in anything like that," Harrington said.
Others arrested in the sting include Sebastian Bach, 37, Panama City; Larry Brown, 42, DeBary; William Volage, 46, and Kenneth Halpin, 44, both of Ormond Beach; and Ransom Peterson, 73, Port Orange.
Representatives for Sears and the Volusia Mall could not be reached for comment Thursday night.

Thanks to this article and the publicity around the senator I’ve learned a few things about public rest rooms.
I had best not pick up anything I drop.
I had best not allow my foot to stray too close to an adjoining stall.
I had best not tap my foot - no listening to music!
I had best not unzip my zipper. Uh, that might present a problem. Guess Ill just stay home.
Because they are degenerates
Its a double edged sword, as you stand there waiting to make sure some pervert doesn't bother him.......everyone else wonders why your standing over by the sink and I'm looking at other guys who are waiting for their kids too, trying to figure out if they are the perverts.
Sheesh
He told me to just stay away from here. A couple of weeks later...since she was still hanging around and walking around the stall where I was changing...I simply quit the Y.
Kids need to know that they should go to an adult. We should not be catching up with these people ten years after the fact. The church did a terrible injustice to many with their "confidentiality agreements" and payoffs. The actions of the priests were "criminal".
“they would tap their feet, zip their zipper, make all kinds of noises and even reach under the stall...”
Remind me not to tap my feet, zip my zipper, or make noises in a public rest room. Hopefully, they’ve got some better evidence than this, but I would not count on it.
LOL....so true....I use the facility, I wash my hands and I am out of there....
No secret hand signals for us gals !!!!
It was familiar to me as well...thinking of Joey Chitwood, of stunt driving fame...however, I think they came from Zephyrhills, on the other side of the state, near Tampa.
