Chertoff rips phony press event

WASHINGTON - The homeland security chief on Saturday tore into his own employees for staging a phony news conference at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

"I think it was one of the dumbest and most inappropriate things I've seen since I've been in government," Michael Chertoff said.

"I have made unambiguously clear, in Anglo-Saxon prose, that it is not to ever happen again and there will be appropriate disciplinary action taken against those people who exhibited what I regard as extraordinarily poor judgment," he added.

Asked specifically if he planned to fire anyone at FEMA, which is part of his department, Chertoff declined to say, citing personnel rules.

"There will be appropriate discipline," he told reporters at a news conference with New York's governor where they announced an agreement on a driver's license plan.

Chertoff said he knew nothing about the matter until after it happened and that he "can't explain why it happened."

The White House on Friday scolded FEMA for the faux press conference about assistance to victims of wildfires in southern California.

...I have made unambiguously clear, in Anglo-Saxon prose, that it is not to ever happen again...

He is guilty of racist comments! /s

Seriously, those of us who have had to deal with government know that is not so far out. Many agencies have utterly stupid policies that frustrate we citizens who are forced to work with them.

That is a rather funny quote. Although it had been even funnier if Chertoff had said, “I have made unambiguously clear, in (salty pirate/ghetto slang/Klingon) prose, that it is not to ever happen again.”

Chertoff MUST resign. He runs an organization devoid of common sense. A working environment he created.

I doubt his staff would do such a thing without his okay.
I’ve never trusted Chertoff.

This is hysterical. Their own people pretended to be reporters while real reporters could call in and listen only. It wasn’t a phony press conference, it was a staged press conference with phony reporters. Given how evil reporters have been toward FEMA, who can blame them?

Bottom line: no one could tell the damned difference between the fake but accurate news conference and a MSM conference. “Journalists” are entirely too predictable.

It was a dumb thing, politically, for the FEMA employees to do, but it strikes me as pretty funny for all the real difference it made.

“Chertoff MUST resign”

I agree. If he were a democrat, we would be calling for his head. He will not resign though because he has more work to do in allowing illegal immigrants from all over the world to infiltrate our Country.

...I have made unambiguously clear, in Anglo-Saxon prose, that it is not to ever happen again...

What does that mean?
Did he swear?
Was that a slur?

What ever it was it sound harsh towards Anglo-Saxon!

Isn't Chertoff Russian?

is he from Russia?

I feel violated in my own country by a hyphenated-foreigner!

What!?!? No translation to spanish, ebonics, legalese or political double-speak? How will anyone in the office understand what he said?

How do you know he is a republican? LOL

Even though he is a member of the Federalist Society, one does have to wonder. Maybe in name only.

Silly FEMA, it’s only OK when Clintons stage phony press events that are heavily choreographed ahead of time.

Wow. The man is PASSIONATE! WoooHOOOO! "I have made unambiguously clear in English, that the Border Fence is mandatory and that there will be disciplinary action taken including loss of job and prosecution for any further foot-dragging, which I regard as extraordinarily treasonous," I wish he would have said.

How many other Republicans or conservatives would

I'm confused. How long did this press conference last?

Did Chertoff not recognize his own employees? Did Chertoff not recognize that familiar reporters were not asking the questions?

How long was Chertoff a party to this press conference, that he now feigns outrage over it?

It seems the Bush policy are moving aways from handling corrections in a cordail way.

This behavios is unacceptable by Chertoff as well as Bush for they tread Americans like a step child as the aliens take over!
