“You say that it wasnt your making, but the Pakistanis can more justifiably make that argument since you got the bomb first.”
If China had the bomb how long do you think it would be for Pakistan to get one regardless of India have it or not? You seriously think Pakistan would have refused nukes comming from China had India decided to do the Gandhi and not start an “arms race”.
The US built the nukes because of the Nazis. Russia and China built nukes because of the US. India built nukes because of China. Pakistan built nukes because of India...
To me it looks like we’re all playing the same game with the same results. The only difference is that some people don’t learn from other’s mistakes.
Did North Korea refuse the nukes because Japan and South Korea didnt have them?
“You seriously think...”
Possibly. We’ll never know. But we do know that what did happen did not work.
“The US built the nukes because of the Nazis.”
Nazis cant be having nukes. If they had one they would have detonated one. Not? Sorry we are playing by your logic , you cant blame the Nazis. US was the first to detonate and also the first to use.
“The only difference is that some people dont learn from others mistakes.”
US never learns from its OWN mistakes.
“you cant blame the Nazis.”
Why not? The only reason we had a nuke program at all was the Nazis. That’s undeniable.
“Thats pretty nutty.”
Whats even nuttier is to give them billions of dollars of military aid and weaponry. If you think something can be seriously nutty just wait for the US government to beat that.
“Yes, I agree we should bail out on Israel.”
Why? They should be responsible for their result for having gone nuclear.
” US is to blame for everything because we invented the first bomb.........”
Going by your logic thats the only conclusion I can draw. My argument was different. If US started the “arms race” then only the US is to be blamed and all other nations are merely reacting or adjusting to the chain reaction set on by US. They share little or no blame.
“The only reason we had a nuke program at all was the Nazis.”
They didnt detonate one so they cant have one. If the Nazis had the bomb surely they would have detonated it. That was your argument. You cant change your premise as and when it suits you.
“Possibly. Well never know. But we do know that what did happen did not work.”
I dont know about that. In 1974 we have the following alternatives to choose from:
#1 China has nukes aimed at India, Pakistan and India will not have nukes
#2 China has nukes aimed at India, Pakistan will receive nukes from China and India will not build nukes
#3 China has nukes aimed at India, Pakistan will receive nukes from China and India will build nukes aimed at both China and India
What alternative would you choose for your future considering you are India?
The Nazis did not have the bomb. But we knew they were building a bomb, and so we had to as well. In retrospect, the smart thing to do would have been to stop our program once it became apparent that we had stopped their program. But that did not happen.
At least I can acknowledge our mistakes. You apparently can’t acknowledge yours.
“The Nazis did not have the bomb. But we knew they were building a bomb, and so we had to as well. “
Dont twist your arguments its, too late for that. If they dont have the bomb then they dont have the bomb. There can be no proof they had the bomb unless they detonate one. The buck stops at US. Cuz that way even the Pakis started building nukes before 1974, too bad they failed trying to do it by themselves.
“You apparently cant acknowledge yours.”
Can you fix your mistakes by agreeing to “universal nuclear disarmament”? India would readly accept “universal nuclear disarmament” to fix our mistakes. If you cant fix your mistakes then dont even talk about acknowledging mistakes. You will only make more mistakes.......... and acknowledge more mistakes.......... and you would expect OTHERS to learn out YOUR mistakes.
Sorry India didnt make any mistakes.
“Sorry India didnt make any mistakes.”
You’re beginning to make me think that we’d be better off doing in this area of the world the same thing that I’ve been advocating for some time with respect to Israel’s problem: Wash our hands and leave it to the locals. India can fight it out with Pakistan, and may the best man win.
“Wash our hands and leave it to the locals. India can fight it out with Pakistan, and may the best man win.”
Actually nothing better then washing your hands off. Unlike in middle east where you are supporting Israel, in South Asia you are actually helping Pakistan both economically and militarily. Pakistan will take only months to collapse without US support. They rank higher then Afghanistan on the Failed State Index (only lower then Iraq and Sudan). US and China is the reason why they are still nuclear/military power otherwise their fall would be worse then USSR.
You know what happens with “arms races” right?
I doubt that China would let them collapse. But if it were between you and me, we’d have a deal.
LOL. Chinese aid for Pakistan is 200 million for the port and 20 million for “earthquake relief”. ROTFL! Thats peanuts compared to 4 billion $ US aid. Saudi gives as much (perhaps more) aid to Pak then China but even that wont be enough.
Chinese dont do charity or pour money down the drain. Pakis BUY weapons from China with US money.
Brilliant,
>> Why did India need the bomb?
China.
>> Do you really think that India is any better off with
>> its own bomb than it would have been under the protective
>> umbrella of the US nuclear arsenal?
