According to Otis, there are indications that homegrown gangs are forming here. But members of nationally known gangs, such as the notorious Mara Salvatrucha or MS-13, are here too, he said.
Otis recalled one case he worked as a school resource officer at Fauquier High School in 2005.
The case involved a teen who had lived in Warrenton for only a couple of weeks. Based on the way he dressed and other factors, Otis said he determined that the teen was affiliated with a gang.
Further investigation determined that he was affiliated with MS-13 and was wanted by Fairfax County authorities on charges of malicious wounding and gang affiliation. The charges stemmed from an incident that had happened in Fairfax County earlier that year.
In another documented case last year, a Prince William County detective arrested a Bealeton man who was wanted in connection with a drive-by shooting in Prince William County. The suspect, Richard Hernandez, who was 20 at the time, allegedly admitted to being a member of the criminal street gang SUR13.

I expect that Fauquier will see much, much more of this as surrounding counties address the problems of illegal aliens.
I’m very familiar with Fauquier, and it breaks my heart to read this.
Lived many years in Prince Wm County and I too am troubled. Folks have to keep thier eyes open to stamp out this trouble. We have enough enemies overseas, without these scum next door.
A few years ago, the torso of a young hispanic woman was found less than a mile from where I hunt in Frederick County. Turns out the woman informed on the drug activities of MS13.
I NEVER go into the woods w/o the Sig Sauer P220 or the S&W 686 and the Armalite AR10 A2. EVER.
I have also been warned that if ever confronted by MS13 members not to let them live. MS13 is the real deal and they will not hesitate to kill.
Right you are.
I don’t know if you’re familiar with it or not, but there’s a great blog called Black Velvet Bruce Li that is very up-to-date on Prince William politics and the illegal alien issue.

“If you encounter gang graffiti in your neighborhood, please report it immediately to law enforcement using the local non-emergency number. One, local law enforcement absolutely needs to be quickly apprised of all gang activity. Two, things like this need to be immediately removed. Let a gang start tagging your neighborhood, and soon theyre going to transition from simple vandalism into trying to intimidate residents. You cant let this get a foothold in our communities.”
They had a special on this gang last night on National Geographic Channel.
My people came to Fauquier around 1720 and we have loved it ever since. It is horrible to think that this incredibly beautiful and historic county is being developed and turned into a place where gang members and other criminals live. But then, we knew this was going to happen, because development brings crime with it.
Quite right. In fact, many members of the Help Save Manassas organization, who were fighting for the recently passed anti-illegal resolution, hang out there.

This is close to home for me! I live in Loudoun, just outside of Fauquier. Gang markings have been left around this area! I think they mark their terrority in the country side.
