Most of them didn't endorse Arnold Schwarzenegger for governor, and they clash with him occasionally on issues ranging from smog to logging.
But environmental groups said Monday they are surprisingly pleased with the number of environmental bills Schwarzenegger signed ...
Of the Sierra Club's list of 25 priority bills, Schwarzenegger signed 18 - or 72 percent - the highest ... since he took office.
"It is important that he is signing more environmental bills and across a variety of subjects," said Bill Allayaud, the Sierra Club's state legislative director. "The environment did well this year."
Working until nearly midnight Sunday, Schwarzenegger signed 750 bills and vetoed 214. Among the environmental bills he signed were:
AB 1109, by Assemblyman Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, requiring new state rules by 2009 to increase the energy efficiency of indoor light bulbs by 50 percent by 2018.
SB 966, by Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, which requires the California Integrated Waste Management Board to develop statewide programs to collect and dispose of expired pharmaceutical drugs. ... snip ...
AB 1470, by Huffman, to provide $250 million a year in incentives to homeowners and businesses who install roof-top solar hot water heaters, ...
AB 1109, by Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, which bans phthalates, ...
AB 821, by Assemblyman Pedro Nava, D-Santa Barbara, which prohibits hunters from using lead bullets ...
"Arnold is unpredictable. With other governors, we are used to very strong partisan lines when it comes to environmental support one way or another," said Rico Mastrodonato, spokesman for the California League of Conservation Voters.
"He just blows that whole model up. We don't know where he is going to come down most of the time. But you always feel like you have a shot."

What did ya expect?
And to think just a couple of years ago certain “conservative” talking heads were talking about removing the requirement of being born in the US so this RINO joker could run for POTUS.
I’m ready for another recall...
we recalled one Leftie, no reason why we can’t recall another!
California’s Austrian governor turned out to be a conservative only on the silver screen.
Arnold is just a “covert Kennedy” doing Maria “Skeletor” Shriver’s bidding.
What are the bullets supposed to be made of?
What are the bullets supposed to be made of?
Rubber?
('Til he takes the lead out of your bullets.)
The last productive person in California will turn off the lights as he leaves.
A few million Californians need to send the girlie man governor some facts. How about the thousands of California ‘protected’ habitat that Mexican Drug cartels are growing dope all over and destroying? How ‘bout that, Arnold?

Thank you for that reminder of the largest cash crop in California and its bountiful harvest here in the Golden Goo$e State, most of it being grown in public lands like national forests and lands and in many instances planted and tended by illegals employed by others.
RINO....or worse. His wife must be pulling his...errrr....strings.
Another tax increase on its way, delivered by your friendly PUC in the form of "fees." Aren't we all generous the way we subsidize this cr@p?
Ah... Just like my MasterCard... PRICELESS!!!
Now tell me where any of the Republican Presidential candidates stand on environmental issues? If we don’t know, then we can expect similar RHINO surprises when they take office. Why are limited government, local control and property rights not issues for our party?
