ALBANY, N.Y. -- A new opinion poll indicates that a majority of New Yorkers oppose a plan proposed by Gov. Eliot Spitzer to allow illegal aliens to obtain a driver's license.

According to a poll from the Siena Research Institute, only 22 percent of voters supported the plan, while 72 percent are opposed.

Sixty-four percent of those surveyed agreed with the statement that the change in policy would allow illegal aliens to obtain a New York driver's license and pose a national security risk.

Only 25 percent agreed with Spitzer's contention that the change will significantly reduce the number of unlicensed drivers, resulting in lower auto insurance costs for all New Yorkers.

According to the poll, 41 percent of New York voters strongly oppose the Spitzer plan and only seven percent strongly support it.

We just found out yesterday that Nikki Taxongas who is running for congress in a special election tomorrow is in favor of giving them to Illegal Aliens. EMILY’S List left that out of their illegal Issue Ad.

Like most politicians, Spitzer helps terrorists
and basically knows that the ONLY purpose of the ‘little people’
is to keep him and his corrupt cronies firmly attached
to the governmental teat and gravy train.

The irony is that Gov. Eliot Spitzer does not care what the people and taxpayers believe or want. No democrat does, their reply is that if you want it different, run for election and do it yourself.

I wonder where they took the poll. If it were NYC, then those numbers are encouraging because it would indicate the much more conservative rest of the state would be even more strongly opposed.

All the people I’ve talked to about this are appalled.

I read in the local paper a couple weeks ago that some other politicians are vowing a court battle over his illegal moves in this matter.

Heard on local public radio news about something like a New York State County Clerks Association, in their recent convention, who voted along the lines of 20-1, with a coupla (Dem) abstentions, to pledge to refuse to issue driver’s licenses to illegals.

This is typical. Yet, I see so many incumbent Governors and Senators. When election time rolls around they still put these clowns back in office.

Do you believe in term limits for Congress?

Despite a recent House vote against it, talk radio is still being threatened by the resurrection of the Fairness Doctrine. With the near evisceration of McCain - Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Act by the Supreme Court and the failure of the comprehensive "Shamnesty" in the Senate, the neoCOMs will be pushing harder for the Fairness Doctrine. Call talk radio. Use that as an opening to push for a Constitutional Amendment to give Congress term limits.

I couldn't resist.

We need term limits in state offices, especially for governor.

The funny thing was the audio of the DMV Commissioner trying to manipulate the current regulations. Boy is that appointee being forced to earning it by Spitzer. “Shall” is only applicable if they have a SS#.
