The only way to be offended is if you are a living stereotype, and your religion is the only thing that defines you as a person. Because then Ann is suggesting that you change yourself, not just your faith.

I find it offensive that a perfect America would be defined by my not living in it. Unless I were to convert, of course. I'm also offended by Ann connecting it to the Repubican Party. Ann's vision of a perfect America might be one without Jews, I presueme all non Christians, but that's not in the Republican platform. She should look elsewhere for political identification.

The woman is capable of foot swallowing on occasion. But the writer is way off base making a connection to the assault on the rabbi. I’d expect this kind of journalism from the Libs.

Parts of the transcript, some bold mine

DEUTSCH: Let me ask you a question. We're going to get off strengths and weakness for a second. If you had your way, and all of your — forget that any of them —

COULTER: I like this.

DEUTSCH: — are calculated marketing teases, and your dreams, which are genuine, came true having to do with immigration, having to do with women's — with abortion — what would this country look like?

COULTER: UMMMMM (pause) ... It would look like New York City during the Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like.

DEUTSCH: And what did that look like?

COULTER: Happy, joyful Republicans in the greatest city in the world.

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, no, but I'm talking about this country. You don't want to make this country — it's not about Republicans. I'm saying, what would the fabric of this country look like? Forget that the Republicans would be running the show.

COULTER: Well, everyone would root for America, the Democratic Party would look like Joe Lieberman, the Republican Party would look like Duncan Hunter —

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, I don't want — I'm not talking about politically the landscape. What would our — would we be safer? Would people be happier? Would they be more —

COULTER: We would be a lot safer.

DEUTSCH: Would there be more tolerance? Would there be — would women be happier, would the races get along better? The Ann Coulter subscription — prescription. What — tell me what would be different in our fabric of country, because —

COULTER: Well, all of those things.

DEUTSCH: I can give — I can give you an argument there would be more divisiveness, that there would be more hate —

COULTER: Oh, no.

DEUTSCH: That there would be a bigger difference between the rich and the poor, a lot of other — tell me what — why this would be a better world? Let's give you — I'm going to give you — say this is your show.

COULTER: Well, OK, take the Republican National Convention. People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America, they —

DEUTSCH: Christian — so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?

COULTER: Yes.

DEUTSCH: We should all be Christian?

COULTER: Yes. Would you like to come to church with me, Donny?

DEUTSCH: So I should not be a Jew, I should be a Christian, and this would be a better place?

COULTER: Well, you could be a practicing Jew, but you're not.

DEUTSCH: I actually am. That's not true. I really am. But — so we would be better if we were — if people — if there were no Jews, no Buddhists —

---------------

DEUTSCH: That isn't what I said, but you said I should not — we should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then, or —

COULTER: Yeah.

Although it is terrible that those incidents occurred, there is nothing at all to suggest that Ann's comments had anything to do with inciting them. That leap is just very bad journalism.

She’s (coulter)nothing but a phony hack cashing in on a wave. I’ve never been able to listen to her long. She has no convictions of any worth.

Please, don’t be offended. It’s a set-up by the left to divide Jews and Christians. Donny Deutsch set Ann up and is a far-left dem and Hillary supporter. Deutsch’s faux “personal outrage” was a bunch of bs.

“I find it offensive that a perfect America would be defined by my not living in it. “

B.S. There is no better place in the world to be a Jew than America.

Take offense where you find it, and I’m not saying that you shouldn’t, but in the end, there is no better place than America to be Jewish.

The phrase, perfecting the Jew, is not in relationship to a religion, but rather the the works of God in the believer after they receive a regenerated human spirit. It is also associated with the theological term, ‘sanctification’. It is a continueing process, which ONLY occurs by the active work of God. More explicitly, the work performed after the Cross, is the work revealed by the person of God the Holy Spirit, who actually indwells every believer until the Rapture.

The person doing the changing is God. The person responsible for their volition is the believer or human exposed to divine truth. If a human fails to abide in their volition with the will of God, then they are not being perfected by Him.

One correction to her statement is appropriate. A Jew having faith in God through faith in Christ, is simply obedient to His will. That same Jew doesn’t lose their Judaism, but is fulfilling its intent.

There has been a cultural war to counterfeit God’s Plan with any substitute including the denial of His Word and the misidentification of His Word.

Our proper goal is for God to change us through faith in Him.

Its a Free Country or some people say and that includes Free Speech. If Ann says what most Christians believe, so what?? That is the price of Free Speech and some of us find it refreshing. Queen Ann Rox!

Can anyone change the fact that Jesus was brought up in the Jewish faith. In fact wasn’t he Jewish?

I get real tired of the easily offended, and those that continually cry and whine about being offended.

I am a fan of Ann Coulter and an Objectivist atheist. So I am far from what she considers a "perfect" human being. Nonetheless, I am not offended by what she said, nor do I think that she has ever declared the Republican party to be for Christians only.

Deutsch used a standard liberal trick of context-dropping to attack Ann. Since Ann is a (well regarded, IMHO) political commentator, she answered a question about what she would want the country to look like in a political context:

COULTER: UMMMMM (pause) ... It would look like New York City during the Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like.

Deutsch then changed the question to go beyond the Republican party:

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, no, but I'm talking about this country. You don't want to make this country — it's not about Republicans. I'm saying, what would the fabric of this country look like? Forget that the Republicans would be running the show.

Ann responded with a broader answer, including Democrats:

COULTER: Well, everyone would root for America, the Democratic Party would look like Joe Lieberman, the Republican Party would look like Duncan Hunter —

Deutsch almost gave his little game away (by saying what he didn't want), and excluded a political context altogether:

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, I don't want — I'm not talking about politically the landscape. What would our — would we be safer? Would people be happier? Would they be more — Ann responded by addressing an important issue:

COULTER: We would be a lot safer.

Deutsch still did not have the statement he was fishing for, and continued to narrow the scope of the question. Finally, he says:

DEUTSCH: That there would be a bigger difference between the rich and the poor, a lot of other — tell me what — why this would be a better world? Let's give you — I'm going to give you — say this is your show.

Now, if you ask someone "why this would be a better world", you are almost begging for an answer based on the religion of the person being interrogated. Since Ann is a Christian and makes no bones about it, Deutsch knew that she would eventually commit the heresy (according to Mainstream Orthodox Agnosticism) of expressing her religious beliefs.

Ann obligingly answered:

COULTER: Well, OK, take the Republican National Convention. People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America, they —

This was what Deutsch wanted. He then pretended that this was the answer to the original question in the original context, and was "offended"( Note that Deutsch completely ignored the " They're tolerant "part of her answer). The rest of the interview consisted of Deutsch attacking Ann for daring to believe that Christianity is superior to Judaism. Personally, I would question the sincerity of any Christian who thought otherwise. If you don't think that you have chosen the correct religion, what's the point?

A question for Deutsch should be "Which do you consider superior, Judaism or Mainstream Orthodox Agnosticism?".

find it offensive that a perfect America would be defined by my not living in it.

She wants to convert you, not march you into the sea (Palestine) or wipe you off the map (Iran). She probably wants to do the same thing to me (an agnostic/atheist).

Liberal Screechers After Ann (Again)
by Jed Babbin (more by this author)
Posted 10/12/2007 ET
Updated 10/12/2007 ET

Congress must be off today, because the liberals are jumping around, throwing chairs and again demanding Ann Coulter’s head be separated from her body. (If Congress were having recorded votes, the MoveOn-dot-Democrats would instead be expending the same energy in another pointless Iraq withdrawal date debate or trying to alienate our key allies.)

At issue this time are Ann’s comments to hitherto unnoticed CNBC host Donnie Deutsch about Christians’ belief that all people would be better off if they were Christian. Now Deutsch — with the usual suspects, including the hyperlib attack dog website MediaMatters — are lining up to call Ann everything but a lady. (The little boys from “Lord of the Flies” who run MM don’t have the courage to accuse Ann of anti-Semitism, so they just imply it.)

The video is the best evidence of what Ann said and did. The only outrageous comments are made by Deutsch, not Ann. At one point, he was equating what Ann said with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s desire to wipe Israel off the map. For a third-party judgment, I spoke earlier today with syndicated talk show host Michael Medved.

I asked Michael if he thinks Coulter is bigoted against Jews. He said, “Ann doesn’t have an anti-Semitic bone in her body. (Apparently, she doesn’t have much more than bones in her body).”

So what was Deutsch’s agenda? Medved said, “This is ‘gotcha journalism’ at its worst.” He added, “She meant no disrespect or harm...She was trying to defend herself from his line of questioning suggesting that she wanted to live in a less tolerant, less civil America.”

What was she trying to do? “Ann merely tried to stake out a position that’s in line with classic Christian belief: that the world would be a better place of all humanity embraced and honored Jesus. If a Christian says that I wish everybody else converted to my religion— particularly my Jewish friends, who already cherish the Old Testament — then the proper reaction shouldn’t be outrage; it ought to be ‘Duh!’”

“As a very proud, personally observant, fervently Zionist and unapologetic Jew (and long-time synagogue president), I would say that anyone who’s grown up in America and doesn’t understand that Christianity at its core wants the whole world to come to Jesus is either blind, insane, ignorant or malicious. The fact that my Christian friends want to convert me — to share with me with most significant and satisfying part of their lives — isn’t a sign of hatred. It is, rather, an expression of love.”

Michael summed it up best: “I’ve long wondered what would be more absurd than comparing Bush to Hitler. Now I know: comparing Ann to Ahmadinejad. The only thing they have in common is that both names begin with the letter ‘A.’ (Ann is taller, smarter, and much better-looking.)” ‘Nuff said.
