The Talk Shows
Sunday, October 14th, 2007
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Reps. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and John Boehner, R-Ohio.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Comedian Bill Cosby, and Dr. Alvin Poussaint, co-authors of the book "Come on, People."
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., presidential candidate.
THIS WEEK (ABC): House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz; Erik Prince, founder of Blackwater USA; Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski.
For your reading pleasure, Tancredo’s KO of McLame:
TANCREDO: I just want to quickly respond. I certainly can agree with the senator on one thing: that the government — that the people of this country believe that the government is broken and hasn’t fixed their problems to a large extent because of the senator’s efforts in support of illegal immigration. That’s one reason why they’re concerned.
And you’re absolutely right. The government hasn’t fixed the problem. And for every single illegal immigrant family in this country, it costs $20,000 — it costs us $20,000, $20,000 in infrastructural costs. They pay about $10,000 in taxes. You really want to do something to restore the people’s faith in government, do something about illegal immigration, don’t just talk about it.
Oh, here is a real treat.
That interview by Wolfe of Carter last week was a two parter. Part II is coming up.
How many more false and stupid things did he manage to say, I wonder.
Square the number of words in the English Language and I think you’ve come close.
Anita's Media Nuggets for October 14th, 2007
to my blog.
Excellent, as usual. I had read the PowerLine piece this morning. There's a slew of others picking up the same distortion and outright coverup by the MSM. Here's a few:
Hugh Hewitt: General Sanchez On The American Media's Coverage Of The War
Captain Ed (Captain's Quarters): Sanchez' Message
Ace of Spades: The Deciders Have Decided, Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez (US Army, Ret) About to Become Darling of the Left
This story may have legs.
Similarly there's a bunch of folks jumping ugly on much of the MSM in relation to your last nugget, but particularly the NY Times, for either burying or completely ignoring the Medal of Honor awarded to Navy SEAL, Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy
RedState.COM has a great piece on the award itself: Navy SEAL Wins Medal of Honor
as does Michelle Malkin: In honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy
And two great pieces at PowerLine: Lt. Murphy's mettle and Lt. Murphy's mettle, part 2
The second Powerline piece has links to some MSM coverage from the NY Post slamming the Times. A lot of the other "usual suspect" conservative blogs have good pieces on both Murphy and the shameful treatment at the hands of the American press his heorism has receivec. Bill Kristol cited this as "sickening" compared to the fawning coverage of the Goracle. on the Fox roundtable this morning.
Carter says that the anti-Iran Revolutionary Guards will allow the Administration to say they have authority to go to war with Iran.
Carter thinks the site that Israel struck in Syria involved missile technology, not anything nuclear (sure, Jimmah).
Should say the “anti-Revolutionary Guards RESOLUTION.”
smooth, you and Fishtalk should....well...talk. Fishtalk’s story sound hauntingly familiar.
I have often wondered what FNC viewing figures are in Britain they must be high enough for Murdoch to keep in our package I will have to do some digging.
I do indeed but I am trying to drop about 6 or 7 pounds as I have put that on in the last couple of months and before Christmas I aim to be 7 stone 7 (105 pounds) not the current 112 (8 stone.
I wonder if any other country apart from Britain uses the term stone in weight
Sorry, no movie theaters here in the Magic Kingdom. The only country showing the movie---or scheduled to show it, I don't think it will open until next week---is in the UAE. Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar have said NO. However, I believe it will run in Oman.
Interesting info. I had not realized that there were NO movie theaters in the Kingdom. I remember back when Michael Palin recreated the journey in Around the World in 80 Days for a BBC series he had to go through Saudi Arabia on his own, without the camera crew, due to similar restrictions.
One comment I have heard about The Kingdom is that it's not much better than a middling TV episode and should be retitled CSI:Riyadh
The Saudi's are building a huge fence along the Iraq border, a combined physical and virtual fence. Not only will it keep the Iraqi's out, it should severely limit those Saudi's who want to play jihad from crossing the border. This should help stabilize Iraq in the long run.
That is great news.
I find the reported reaction of the Arab world to the Senate plan for partitioning Iraq to be most interesting. Glenn Reynolds posted this, which he says was sent by a reader, but it's not available on line:
* Iraqi Figures Launch Campaign Against US Senate Resolution
Iraqi political and religious figures in addition to Arab figures have launched a campaign to collect the signatures of one million people, who oppose the US Senate resolution on partitioning Iraq into federal regions on sectarian bases. A conference was held in Amman to this effect, during which the participants, who represent various sects, called on the Arab countries to stand by Iraq and condemn this resolution.
(Dubai Al-Sharqiyah Television in Arabic -- Independent, private news and entertainment channel focusing on Iraq, run by Sa'd al-Bazzaz, publisher of the Arabic-language daily Al-Zaman)
Have you heard anything about this or are you familiar with the source? If true this is another bit of evidence, which is starting to accumulate, that we may actually look back a year from now and realize that we've basically won this thing in Iraq.
the cover story on the new Weekly Standard is:
The Stupid Party
How the Democrats earned the epithet previously reserved for Republicans.
Check out the cover:
It is happening in the UK as well especially TB
Great, if my arithmetic is correct..a stone = 15 pounds. This solves one of my great mysteries. The UK press always gives weight in stones---leaving me wondering...
As for losing weight, I'm a devoted Atkin's dieter. The low-carb diet works for me. I lost 40 pounds 10 years ago and I've kept it off. Of course the low-carb diet explains my love for single-malt Scotch. Scotch, like most pure spirits has zero carbs. However, I still miss having a cold beer on a hot, humid day.

I don’t believe you could procure a rabies vaccination in the UK. If you brought your pet over to the US and your pet received a rabies vaccination while visiting, your pet would have to undergo a six month quarantine when you returned to the UK. The rabies vaccination is “live”, and prohibited in the UK.
Classical rabies was eradicated from the UK in 1922 and the Pet Travel Scheme and quarantine help protect against infected animals entering the UK.
I lost over 3 stone last year in fact about 45 pound in total but due to eating a little more bit more for the last couple of months about 6 or 7 pounds has crept back and I want to nip it in the bud so no alcohol for me until my birthday in November and try to eat between 1000 and 1500 calories a day till Christmas.
Then reassess in the new year after the Christmas/New Year feasting when I probably will have gained 2 or 3 pounds.
I wish we had a TRUE conservative news network. i would pay to subscribe to that.

Given enough capital, Id love to start Fullervision as a TV network.
Just the news and information we need. No spin, no drama, no talking heads, very little celebrity fluff. Network with local news stations, just put it on a loop and update/go live as needed.
Start making videos and upload them to PowerLiine Video
We don't need no steenkin "main stream" media!
