Somewhat related: Remember the Oakland International Airport troop-snubbing story? Theres a new development. Thirdwavedave reports on an announcement to come tomorrow from Rep. John Mica via Andrea Shea-King:
During the interview, Mica gave our listeners some inside information about the Oakland airport that has yet to be shared, officially, with the public, but will be Tuesday when congress reconvenes.
Mica said the Department of Defense and Charter Flight Operators have agreed to halt all flights into the Oakland airport. Sacramento International, according to Mica, will likely be the airport to receive our troop layover flights from now on.
Again, Mica said this will be announced in congress this Tuesday. Plus, he said hed have more information at that time.
Its not often we score a victory over the anti-military, San Francisco Bay Area, but it looks like we have this time.

Excellent. Hit the traitors in the pocketbook. I love it. I can think of a lot more things the military should be doing along these lines.

"And dont call us for help whenn the earth quakes."Or anything else, unless an apology is received.
We should have cut off this blight on the west coast of our country long ago.

you know they hold a “fleet week” there every year. They should consider moving that to a more deserving location as well.... im thinking Portland or Seattle

Like their beloved ball player, the Bay Area should get a big Asterisk by the rest of the country.

They probably land at civilian airports because it's easier to arrange connecting flights, buses, or trains to other destinations. I would guess that having plenty of hotels available would be of some help to relatives waiting for someone to come home. Access to civilian airports for families is probably more convenient than trying to navigate the security at a military base.
All that being said, I hope they avoid SF or Oakland whenever possible.

Seattle Washington August 4th and 5th, Portland Oregon August 11th and 12th

Why do they have to land at civilian airports at all? Because almost all of the military bases on the left coast, in CA, have been closed.
To: SouthernBoyupNorth
im thinking Portland or Seattle why?
Portland and Seattle are also both pretty anti Military
I would nominate San Diego.

Sacramento is an
civilian international airport. And user friendly. It's our best kept secret...
Except for one thing; the food courts and souvenier shops are all past the security area, so non-passengers are out of luck.
Another gift to the American people courtesy of the sandmaggot religion of peace types...

I can’t help but wonder how many military families from both near and far came to Oakland for the chance to see their loved one.
They should do what the left always does, sue the snot out of all possible targets who manage the airport.

Andrea Shea King has interviewed FR's own Kristinn a few times and I see she is now back on Orlando radio (AM580-WDBO) Sunday nights. Her Web site is here:
