Will the Media Cover THIS Story?

On September 30, a Sunday – the Lord’s Day in the Christian church – San Francisco will host the Folsom Street Fair, perhaps the most hedonistic event held in public in America. The fair is the San Francisco homosexual community’s annual celebration of promiscuity, sadomasochism and debauchery. The ad for this year’s fair mocks Da Vinci’s The Last Supper, with a half-naked beefcake Christ and disciples bedecked in all manner of leather and chains. The bread and wine of The Last Supper are replaced with sex toys. Many Christian groups have expressed outrage.

Will the national media cover the story?

When it comes to the media treatment of Christian issues, you never know what you’ll get. For instance, in the October 1 issue of Newsweek, Lisa Miller’s “Beliefwatch” column tsk-tsks over the outrage felt by Christians over comedienne Kathy Griffin saying “Suck it, Jesus” at the Creative Emmy Awards. The outcry was loud enough that E! deleted Griffin’s remarks during their broadcast of the awards show. Miller’s sarcastic tone in reporting the story reveals her complete lack of regard for the offense felt by followers of Jesus.

Twenty-two pages later in the same issue of Newsweek is a two-page spread on how Democrats are wooing evangelical Christians. This is a story the media like. Three pictures accompany the article. One is of Sen. Barack Obama praying with Pastor Rick Warren, another is of Hillary Clinton in front of the word “Faith.” The third is of a very disappointed-looking James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, with the caption “Dobson isn’t supporting Thompson.” The article paints a very hopeful picture of the Democrats’ chances (the subhead to the story says “their efforts may have a prayer”) of winning the younger evangelical vote, because “many younger evangelicals are worried about issues beyond the traditional struggles over abortion, school prayer and gay marriage.”

There it is, the G word. The mainstream media are, shall we say, selective in their coverage of homosexuality as well. They collectively went nuts when Senator Larry Craig’s solicitation of ‘gay’ sex in a Minneapolis airport bathroom became public knowledge. However, they typically turn a blind eye to nudity and sexual acts occurring in broad daylight during “pride” parades. Public nudity is commonplace, as is sadomasochism, at the Folsom Street Fair. The fair’s Web site proudly promotes pictures of past events to prove the point.

According to Concerned Women for America, “The most unimaginable and vile acts of debauchery are commonplace during the fair. Senator Larry Craig was arrested and driven out of the Senate for allegedly soliciting public ‘gay’ sex, yet during this event the city of San Francisco suspends the law and allows ‘gay’ men and women to parade the streets fully nude, many having sex – even group orgies – in broad daylight, while taxpayer-funded police officers look on and do absolutely nothing.”

And so we ask again: Will the mainstream media cover the Folsom Street Fair?

For the media, it must be like being caught between a rock and a hard place. The media love the Democrats. The Democrats are courting evangelicals as well as gays. The Folsom Street Fair pits one against the other – in a brazen and profane ad – for a taxpayer-supported event that flouts just about every moral precept upon which this country was built. Will the media cover THIS story?

Juxtaposing the two San Francisco stories - this one about the permitted street fair, and the other (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1902518/posts) about Marines being banned from SF streets, certainly is telling.

In the same way that Columbia U. inviting Ahmadinejad while banning the ROTC is telling...

Why don’t they go hold their celebration in Tehran... Obviously homosexuality is a choice if there are none in Iran.

Why don’t they try mocking Muhammed if they want to show how brave and avant garde they really are?

Another telling hyposcracy; call homosexuality an abomination and all you hear is “that’s hate speeech, you’re a homophobe and probably a closet homosexual”. Yet they mock my religion with impunity from the MSM and politicians. Woe be to those who mock God.

You’ve got to think that SF’s days are numbered.
Up next: the wrath of God.

"You’ve got to think that SF’s days are numbered."

If not I think God owes the city of Sodom an apology.

God NEVER owes anyone an apology. In Sodom, there were not even 10 people who had the slightest regard for God and his standards of behavior. As bad and decadent as San Francisco is, there are still decent people -- even believers -- who live in and around that city (though I have no idea why).

Will the Media Cover THIS Story?

To my knowledge, the media have never even shown grooms kissing at Massachusetts wedding ceremonies. They don't want to upset their carefully crafted message of quiet acceptance.

So to answer your question, since the vast majority of Americans would be revolted by the sight of two guys kissing, I wouldn't expect any coverage at all by the old media of public perversion in San Fran.

Rev. 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

So, although I wish perverts didn’t even exist, much less put their perversions on parade and strut it, I am under no illusions that my wishes will ever be honored. Nor does it make a difference to me what day they strut it. According to the above verse, given the imperative of all the rest of the Bible, and its invitation to holiness, the evil will persist because that is the nature of fallen man in general; the other implication is that the judgment will come, and will be well-justified.

there is no sex in this version.

Was this made to specifically demean and offend?

The sanfrancisco sex version was made SPECIFICALLY to sexualize and demean.

Imagine the uproar if this group had included a Koran or cartoon of Mohammad in their poster.

"We are commanded to love, judgement is God’s job. Where is your love for the gays, who so desperately need it & the truth???"

We are commanded to love individuals and called to condemn sin. "Gays" is a term describing sinful behavior and we are to condemn it in every way. Show me a specific individual engaging is such behavior and I would love and counsel them to turn to Jesus Christ. It's called hating the sin and loving the sinner. Also, since many believe in providence (that everything which happens is God's will) then it is no stretch to say Katrina and/or 9-11 was God's judgment.

And if NO was destroyed for its sins, I can’t wait for the destruction of SF!!! Sorry to you sensitive types(moderaters) but are you willing to say that 9/11 was God’s judgement on the arrogance, pride, greed, & lawlessness of NY??? I bet not, cuz 9/11 is sacred to some people...they think it can’t POSSIBLY be God’s punishment because, well...just because.

Actually, I think it might have something to do with the fact that Katrina was an act of, well, God. The 9/11 attack, on the other hand, was committed by me. In spite of what you may have heard from their insane sympathizers, it had nothing whatsoever to do with God.

I don’t know about everybody else but I for one, have HAD it with perversion.

This is going on in more than SF. Have a look, if you have the stomach for it, at what is going on in New England.

http://www.oicgifts.com/outinthepark/outinthepark/index.html

and

http://massresistance.com/docs/gen/07c/six_flags_092107.html

Americans can no longer even take their kids to the amusement park, or the Eastern States Fair, and be safe from assault by the behavior of these people in public. Soon, NEers will be reduced to staying home, where it is safe, until they either go elsewhere for vacation or move. Mind you, there is NO warning or advertising to the general public about these hideous events. If you thought they were just like us, think again, if they were they would not need these “gay days”, they would go and enjoy the parks or fairs like everyone else. But, No, they need a day to celebrate perversion at family events.
