HillaryCare Packaged With SCHIP
Human Events ^ | 09/10/2007 | Robert B. Bluey

Conservatives have spent the past month gearing up for the SCHIP fight, calling it a new-look HillaryCare. They have plenty of data to show the dangerous fiscal consequences of heading down this path, such as the reliance on tobacco taxes to pay for SCHIP’s expansion. The House bill raises cigarette taxes by 45 cents per pack, and the Senate bill increases them by 61 cents. Tax hikes of that magnitude, causing many people to stop smoking, would be disastrous for state finances. In addition, millions of Americans would have to start smoking to pay for this new federal entitlement.

Thats it...I’m gonna quit smoking just so there won’t be funding for this socialist program.

I quit smoking 8 weeks ago when they were talking about an additional $1/pack Fed tax, we just got hit with the $1/pack state tax in TX. Bad part is, if we all quit, they'll just go after our beer next. Now that could start a revolt, LOL!

NO, not my beer. I would have to start making my own again, like I did in Saudi Arabia.

I tend to think that staffers mirror what their Congresspeople bosses think. I just pulled this from Capitolist.

Everyone else getting hammered by the smokers calling about
the cigarette tax? It just makes me want to tax the ba$tard$ more...

“Smoking bans hurt children”

“Tobacco taxes hurt children”

I love it, the moonbats would totally freak out........

Prohibition didn’t work either. It’ll just go to the black market.

Around here, people go to the Indian reservation for cigarettes if they want them cheap, and lots do.

“Prohibition didn’t work either. It’ll just go to the black market.”

I’ve already got my 1/4 acre set aside for the “personal use” of growing smoking tobacco.

Off course, since I don’t smoke, it won’t be exactly for MY personal use, but it will be for SOMEONE’S personal use. ;)

If those IDIOTS in Washington knew what a robust underground economy there already is in ANY sector of our economy, they’d be sh*ttin’ green because they haven’t been able to tax us since Time Began.

I hate taxes. I live to avoid them by all legal means possible. These jerks only inspire me to dig in my heels all the harder. :)

Cut that back, dear. You are only permitted 1/10th acre.

Beyond that, I agree with you wholeheartedly!!!!!!

And better measure carefully. You can bet they will if they come checking.

Join me!

I have GOT to find some way to contact every Housewife across America and convince her that she pays way too much in taxes on whatever she earns and certainly on what her husband earns, should he be gainfully employed as well, LOL!

Any ideas?

No need to convince me. I live in New York- The Vampire State.

How to beat taxes?

Garage sale.

Go right to the farmer.

Barter with friends and neighbors for services.

Grow your own.

Make your own Christmas presents. I’ve done AG doll clothes for nieces, given canned goods to in-laws.

Go to Salvation Army Thrift stores where you can sometimes get name brand goods with the price tag on them. That way you don’t pay as much for the clothes so pay less taxes.

I’m somewhat at a loss about how to contact housewives, though.

What am I missing?
