BISMARCK, N.D. - A B-52 bomber was mistakenly loaded with five nuclear warheads during a flight from North Dakota to Louisiana, a newspaper reported Wednesday.
The bomber carried advanced cruise missiles as part of a Defense Department program to retire 400 of the missiles, the Military Times said, quoting three officers who spoke on condition they remain anonymous because they were not authorized to discuss the incident.
The officers said the nuclear warheads should have been removed before the missiles were mounted onto pylons under the bomber's wings for the Aug. 30 flight from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, the newspaper said Wednesday.

Then why did they leak this information? They should be court marshaled and busted down to private. nutjob now knows that there are 5 or more “advanced” nukes the US is looking to get rid of about 1000 miles closer to Iran. Smart nukes, too, with their own jet engines and guidance.....advanced....maybe tactical neutrons, maybe they dig deep and detonate.......you can bet that nutjob is thinking about this right now.......I simply DO NOT believe that 3 Officers would reveal nuclear info such as this without orders and a script.
So what? Everyone knows the Air Force has nuke bombs. Everyone knows that they put them in their bombers. Everyone knows that they must be transported from one place to another somehow.

Ah, reminds me of the good old days when we had alert pads loaded wuth B-52s and B-58s loaded and ready for bear. Each base also had two B-52s already in the air ready to go.(Chrome Dome).
