Tamara Mitchell-Ford was arrested in Collierville Tuesday night for driving under the influence and driving with a revoked license.
It's the second time this year Mitchell-Ford, the ex-wife of former state senator John Ford, has been arrested in the suburb for drinking and driving.
A Collierville police officer pulled Mitchell-Ford over on a routine traffic stop between 8 and 9 p.m. Tuesday on Poplar near Houston Levee, said Lt. Mike Moore.
The police report wasn't completed late Tuesday so details were sketchy. Moore didn't know if a field sobriety test was conducted. A child riding with her was picked up by a family member.
Mitchell-Ford, 43, was arrested in Collierville on Feb. 6 and charged with drunken driving while she was on probation from a 2001 assault case.
She pleaded guilty in April to the drunken driving charge and was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail with all but two days suspended. She was fined $350 plus court costs and was ordered to perform 24 hours of trash pickup.
Her driver's license was revoked for a year and she was ordered to complete alcohol safety school and defensive driving school.
Criminal Court Judge James Beasley Jr. said in May that although her February DUI case violated her probation, he would not revoke it because she complied with his orders to seek counseling, alcohol-treatment classes, employment and fulfill other conditions.
He allowed her to remove an alcohol-detection ankle bracelet she had been wearing since March.
Mitchell-Ford was arrested in 2001 after she rammed her car into the Collierville home where her ex-husband's girlfriend was living.
John Ford was sentenced last month in federal court to 66 months in prison for taking bribes. Ford was caught along with 11 other current and former public officials in an FBI undercover bribery sting called Operation Tennessee Waltz.
Tamara (and her former Sister-in-Law, Ophelia Ford) keep getting caught in the Tennessee Stagger.
Nephew Harold Ford, Jr, was unavailable for comment.
She really should consider moving closer to the bar.
I don’t think Judge Beasley is interested in giving her an appropriate sentence.
Maybe she’ll crash into HIS house and he’ll change his mind.
That would require Ophelia to move over a little.
She really should consider moving closer to the bar.
Damn -- Money and Power doesn't trump ugly or corrupt, does it?
Still, almost any FORD could get elected at the drop of a hat in Memphis....
Being ignorant, corrupt and addicts are self determined decisions.
