I was reading the article "Al-Maliki Tells Off Clinton, Levin" from the WNBC.com website and was going to post it. It starts out "Al-Maliki Tells Off Clinton, Levin Iraqi Prime Minister Says U.S. Dems Should 'Come To Their Senses' POSTED: 9:37 am EDT August 26, 2007 BAGHDAD -- There are some stern words from Iraq's prime minister Sunday for ......" But when you click the print view button, a window pops up with the correct article in it, select all (ctrl-A), copy (ctrl-C), then paste (ctrl-V) it where you want it, it reads this "AP Credit, U.S. intelligence agencies issued a new assessment Thursday expressing doubt about Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's ability to end the violence in his country."

One of the first things I did on FR (before it was even FR) was paste consecutive stories as they evolved on AP.
The bias (and the rewriting of headlines and copy with no discernable ‘new’ information) was breathtaking
The left in this country, contrary to what they’d have you believe, is on the ropes and desperate. Hillary’s comment the other day that a terror strike on the US would be their undoing is quite telling
I wouldn’t put it past the MSM to print and distribute ballots next time around
Sorry for the repeat post, but my question still stands. Is what they are doing illegal?
Didn’t give me a different story when I clicked the Print icon. Not sure why you got something different...
It only changed after I copied and pasted it.
I think it has to do with the HTML at the top. It's cool that they can hide that from the story but it shows up in the print version.
You’re just seeing the hover caption for the photo.
Try hovering your mouse on the photo. You’ll see the same text.
Nothing malicious or hidden at all. When you Select All, it includes the photo hover caption.
Even if they were doing it intentionally, which I believe would be difficult, what law would be broken? CBS tried to use poorly manufactured fake documents in an attempt to sway a presidential election. That apparently didn't meet the threshold of illegality.
If anyone was "tinkering" with the html code to cause this, it would have to be WNBC. I am pretty sure that AP still transmits their articles to subscribers in a simple text format.
Standard editorial procedure to increase circulation...almost requires that a ‘headline’ suggest the exact opposite conclusion from the article itself! But, of course for anyone to notice, the article itself would actually have to be read, which hardly ever happens anymore in dinosaur newsprint (except for canaries, that is)!
You are correct, mystery solved.
If you check the properties, that text is the title of that image.
garvin, you must have grabbed the whole page.
Since I didn't included the sidebar elements when I cut-and-pasted, I didn't see it.
That happened to me before as well. A mod brought it to my attention when the link didn't go with the link I copied and pasted.
I have been seeing that. Also seen two or three Hillary donate and sign up to volunteer ads. Couldn’t get to the article unless I deleted atleast 3 of them.
“Is what they are doing illegal?’
If it was illegal to lie to people, the DEA would be in Leavenworth.
Thanks for your insight.

***I remember that! Thanks, it was always eye-opening.
