Newark Mayor Cory Booker yesterday outlined a series of measures designed to monitor the flow of guns in and out of the state's largest city and to prevent gun dealers from opening shop in residential neighborhoods or near schools.

Booker, joined by Gov. Jon Corzine and Attorney General Anne Milgram at a news conference yesterday afternoon, admitted the initiatives may not stop the bloodshed overnight, but called them necessary steps in order to curtail violence.

The announcement comes nearly two weeks after four college-age Newark residents were shot in the head behind an elementary school in the Ivy Hill neighborhood. Three of the students died and a fourth survived.

Ah yeah, "curb guns". Boy that is sure going to work when violent felons aren't allowed to own guns in the 1st place.

Don’t look too close at why your Criminal Justice system let a violent felon back out on the streets. Don’t look in the mirror and see the problem. NO, simply manufacture a scapegoat to blame for the failing of the City of Newark, and the State of New Jersey’s, political class.

Just target law-abiding gun dealers. But repeal Newark's bone-headed and illegal "sanctuary" policy? Nope - its not in the cards.

Maybe they should incarcerate and execute the hardened criminals that are convicted in their courts? Maybe that would assist rather than going after lawful business owners who do check who is purchasing their products?

Ijits....

This is the same idiot:

Newark's Mayor Calls Shooting Immigration Status "Irrelevant"

WNYC NEWSROOM August 14, 2007 —Newark's Mayor, Cory Booker, says he has no plans to change police policy, in the wake of a triple murder where two undocumented immigrants are the prime suspects.

BOOKER: In no way is obligation of city police department to be going around and doing the work of INS.

REPORTER: Booker's director of police, Garry McCarthy, says the immigration status of the suspects is "irrelevant." He also is dismissing reports that the execution-style murders were related to the violent Central American gang, MS-13.

Booker and McCarthy announced today extra video cameras for Newark's high crime neighborhoods. The cameras will be equipped with sensors, to allow them to swivel toward the sound of gunshots.

No, the real issue is gun stores, not leaving murderous scum running loose on the streets.

Just gotta change a couple letters.

I'd prefer "Please holster your gun," but whatever.

“The mayor did not explain how police would enforce the gun registry, especially pertaining to stolen guns.”— from the article. In other words, he knows it won’t do a damn thing about criminals, it’s just to harrass law-abiding gun owners.

“Any excuse to dis-arm the public...............”

They always fall back on gun control mantra when they have no intention of addressing the problem. In this instance, illegal immigration and hate crime.

Typical for astute politicians to go and blame guns for killing people.
These mayors disregard deteriorating crime rates, their support for a sanctuary city, placement of liberal judges that are at the core of skyrocketing crime rates under their very own noses while in office.
This mayor tries to get relief by blaming guns while throwing smoke into voters faces.

The author says “gun dealer” as if they are like drug dealers. These store owners are usually honest, upstanding members of the community, at least the ones ive seen.

I don’t expect anyone in Newark to have the b@lls to stand up and admit that the dramatic increase in gun-related crimes in northern New Jersey and New York City in recent years is directly attributable to the elimination of “racial profiling” by the New Jersey State Police on I-95 a few years back.
