Fatal Stabbing in West Lubbock

Thursday, Aug 16, 2007 @10:20pm CST

A Lubbock man is dead after police say he was stabbed to death in a West Lubbock business. Police say the homicide happened around 6 Thursday night at Fred's Gun Emporium on Slide Rd. They say 66-year-old Wayne Knox and another person were arguing inside the business when the fight turned deadly. The unidentified person stabbed Knox once in the stomach and was transported to UMC where he later died. Police say they do have a person detained for questioning in this homicide, but no charges have been filed. They tell us the suspect and victim did know eachother, but a motive has not been established. Police say the victim worked off-and-on at the Emporium and he was good friends with the owner. We'll keep you updated as details come in.

“Parrish allegedly stabbed Knox in the stomach with a pocket knife”

So much fore the theory that the availability of firearms leads to shootings!

Police tell us that Parrish was conducting a concealed handgun class at the time of the incident.

Unfortunately, he didn't get into the concealed knives lecture.

The bad news: This is the first time I have ever heard of a murder in a gun shop.

The good news: The death instrument was not a gun.
