A Detroit-area newspaper says the results of Tuesday's primary could lead to Hamtramck, Michigan, becoming the first city council in the U.S. to be controlled by Muslims.
The Detroit News says there are four Muslims in the Tuesday primary. If they are among the candidates who win and go on to run in the November election, they would have a chance to join a fifth Muslim who already sits on the six-member council and is up for re-election in 2009.
Hamtramck -- historically a refuge for Catholic immigrants mostly from Poland and Ukraine -- was at the center of a controversy three years ago over an initiative allowing amplified calls to prayer from the city's mosques.

What is really sad, is that growing up I thought I would never see this type of thing happening to my country. Driving with my mom down to the border in Tijuana was treat and mysterious place. Now, just another city on the map. My kids, I fear will not see the America I grew up with.

I nearly lost a keyboard one day when Alouette stated that she had been shopping down in Dearborn and got into a group of women in hijabs. She said that she made them “breathe Jew air”!!!!

The global Japanese company my husband worked for made the decision to move (i) all their manufacturing operations to Mexico and Brazil (closing the plants that had been in NC and SC); and (ii) move their corporate operations to Detroit to be closer to the auto industry (those operations had been in NC).
We declined the move, husband is still job hunting. In the interim we had taken on housing and care of his mother. We don’t feel she can make another move....some days he is really discouraged.

I’m afraid that’s quite right...
This could actually be a good thing. Once these clowns start using Sharia law or the Koran to base government decisions on, or start renaming streets after martyrs, perhaps people will start to wake up to the dangers of complacence. Better to have the wake up call happen at the city level of government somewhere than the State congress or senate, or God forbid, at the federal level.
Remember associating London with Big Ben, the queen (not Elton) and all that the culture offers? Paris with the Eiffel Tower, French cuisine and culture? Those days are gone. I saw that coming, (really) and you're right it's going to happen for us also.
This is a horrible watershed moment. The muslims in our country will be out of control soon.
