Reporting From FOB Falcon (Scott Beauchamp)
Weekly Standard ^ | 8/1/07 | Michael Goldfarb / Matt Sanchez

Posted on 08/01/2007 7:32:04 AM PDT by Valin

Milblogger Matt Sanchez is currently at FOB Falcon and has been asking questions at the base about Scotty Beauchamp, whose stories for the New Republic are being investigated by both the Army and the editors at TNR. Sanchez reports:

Despite a full day of dealing with securing a dangerous Baghdad neighborhood, even Lt. Colonel Crider was aware of the recent Beauchamp scandal and could only shake his head at how absurd the initial details of the accounts seemed....
[With calls from the] New York Times, O'Reilly Factor, ABC, CNN, Hot Air, in the past two weeks, Major Luedeke has dealt with more media inquiries over the Beauchamp controversy than any other subject in his entire career.
After several terse conversations, it was obvious soldiers at FOB Falcon took the events described in The New Republic very seriously.

We emailed Sanchez to see if we could get anything more definitive. Sanchez reports that the New Republic has sent "one or two emails" to the PAO at FOB Falcon to ask what were called "lukewarm" questions as part of their effort to "re-report" the stories.
Sanchez added that,

No one has seen or heard of the melting lady. No soldier would confuse an officer with a contractor. It just wouldn't happen. It's a small base and most people have seen each other. I just got back today and all these people I haven't seen in a month are welcoming me back. They don't know me, but they've seen me before.

Does the person even really exist?

Lefties have won Pulitzers by creating fictional “true” stories.

they are in a quandary because:

If his stories are true the people who did those things should be punished and will be punished by the military, and TNR should glad, glad gald.

If they are not true Beauchamp is going to be punished for lying -— and for revealing troops movements on his blog. and TNR will be very sad but on the other hand they should be glad that soldiers AREN’T doing these awful things.

Just like John Kerry’s accusations before Congress in ‘71.

If they were true why weren’t punishments handed down?

If they were not true why weren’t people punished for lying before Congress?

But back then there was no Internet.

If this doesn’t make people stop and thin about just what exactly the MSM is trying to do to our efforts in Iraq...i.e. undermine them...then nothing will.

I had a FRiend who was in Nam, and he wrote a letter home to his mom asking her to send him a care package with food in it, because he was not getting enough to eat.

His mom, sent the letter to his old highschool and apparently it caused a dust up with complaints to the Marine Corp for failing to give them enough food.

He was called up before his commanding officer and had to apologize to his whole unit for bringing disrepute to the Corp.

There is a PV2 Scott Beauchamp in the Army.

The PAO at Falcons says he’s there but unavailable for comment.

I wonder if he’s enjoying burning the sh*t drums?
I would imagien his life is now very interesting....and not in a good way.
I had a flight chief in Korea who would say “I can’t make you do it, but I can make you wish you had.”

A leftist wanting journalistic chops, enlists and gets his fiance to push for publishing his diatribes to put him to the forefront of the leftist media smear campaign of our nation's armed forces.

Shades of Plame/Wilson and internal CIA subversion.

This fellow is giving "aid and comfort" to our nation's enemies and because he will claim he is a defacto journalist, nothing will be done to him due to fear of the Democrats that are subverted by leftist leadership.

Shame on those good citizens that still vote democrat out of ancient loyalties to causes long past.

Yeah I think this guy needs to become the designated “Stew Stirrer” for the FOB.

IMHO...I hope the little dweeb gets a headache just LOOKING at a computer now.

I also imagine the crap he’s getting from his PL...Plt. Sgt Squad Leader...team leader and the other troops is worse than anything the UCMJ could bring down on him.

These elite liberal hatriotics had better pray that Iraq doesn't become a rich and free standing nation. Iraq might hire a lot of mercs to capture and bring these war criminals like this lying sos to trial in Iraq for War Crimes against innocent Iraqis.

I think the experiences he reported were seared, ... seared into his memory.

According to PVT Beauchamp, Americans in Iraq are worst than Jengis Kahn.

I wonder if he spent Christmas in Iran, on a covert mission for the CIA?

How long before he announces a Congressional candidate from Massachusetts’ 5th District?

I take it that the term ‘terse’ means words that can’t be repeated in public?

Fascinating Analysis of Leftist Goals, August 13, 2006

Reviewer: N. Sincerity - See all my reviews

A former 1960s radical, Horowitz is well-acquainted with the Leftist mindset. In this book, he strives to explain the modern alliance between left wing progressivists and radical Islamofascists. He argues that this alliance is based on a common desire to destroy Western capitalism. Leftist sympathy with Islamofascist ideas makes no sense from an intellectual point of view, given that countries ruled by radical Islamists are among the most racist, sexist, theocratic states in the world today. However, Leftists have recognized that they can benefit politically from destructive terrorist attacks on the Western world. A West under attack can be made to turn on its leaders in fear and desperation (as they did in Spain after the Madrid train bombings). Only once people reject current government structures can the Left execute its anti-capitalist revolution and build a new reality that mirrors the Leftist view of utopia.

The complete and utter idealogical hypocrisy of the Islamofascist-Leftist alliance is distressing, but as Horowitz reminds us,

Leftists radicals truly believe the ends justify the means.
