A Growing Problem [Maryland Overcrowded Residences]
The Frederick News-Post ^ | By Joseph M. deLeon

Posted on 07/25/2007 8:37:49 AM PDT by DCPatriot

While code enforcement inspectors and city police plotted to raid an overcrowded west Frederick house early Tuesday morning, its nine residents slept.

Before the surprise inspection, a woman and her four children dozed in a 10- by 12-foot bedroom. Her uncle slept in the adjacent bedroom while her nephew curled up in a crudely converted attic space. Two other men slept in the house's primitive basement apartment.

A 7-year-old boy tucked into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bed roll was dreaming about playing with dogs.

Later in the afternoon, the city code enforcers decided to condemn 5712 Butterfly Lane, a house representative of a problem they say is growing.

Michael Blank, the city's code enforcement manager, said Tuesday he doesn't have statistics to prove more complaints are coming in, but the increase is obvious to his staff.

Typical illegals. Fit 10-20 to a house. No wonder why schools are overcrowded.

Every time she moved, a relative found her a place to live and work. Along the way, three boys and a girl brought her joy and spread mischief.

Too bad no husband appeared..."along the way."

Our town here in NW NJ had the same problem.

How they "fixed it": Charge landlords $120 per unit, per year so that inspectors can enforce building code/occupancy violations. I pay $240 for our two family and in two years no one has inspected our property. IMO, Just another money making scam.

When the “growth management” crowd effectively blocks the construction of new homes, the price of existing homes rises. It’s the law of supply and demand. Poor people (legal residents) end up in these “group homes”.

Maybe they only inspect those residences that are complained about?

What a nightmare for landlords! The hispanic tenants will never admit that they intend to cram the house to the rafters with ilegals. It is against the law to discriminate based on race, so the law is set up to deter landlords from being picky about who they rent to, and if you choose wrong, they condemn the place!

You are correct. I have them literally 2 houses down the street from me, in an “affluent” “city” that thinks very highly of itself and its PC “diversity”.

They moved in 2 years ago. I’m not sure how they were able to buy it, but I’m sure in PC-land here it was just fine.

I don’t frankly mind lots of people together. The biggest inconvenience to me is the many, many cars (not ancient or rusting or dulling, either) - amazing for such “poor” people.

I think they’ll eventually just lower the bar and allow more of this. PC will win.

Blank drew arrows on an aerial photograph of 5712 Butterfly Lane, a two-bedroom house his crew has been watching for more than a year.

Any LEO type - why does it take a year of surveillance to determine if housing code violations have occurred ?

A 7-year-old boy tucked into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bed roll was dreaming about playing with dogs.

LOL! Yes...noticed that.

And this too:

"Every night, the boy who dreams about dogs rests his head on a torn SpongeBob SquarePants pillow. Every night, SpongeBob's yellow insides spill out.

"When the police came in, I was asleep dreaming", he said as he restuffed SpongeBob. "When I woke up, I thought it was a bad dream".

You know, my Telepathic Somatic Dream Analyzer does not have a Spanish/English translator adaptor. Obviosly the Telepathic Somatic Dream Analyzer this reporter brought along on this raid is so equipped, or the reporter speaks Spanish.

Stix beat reporters get all the fun toys!

Not exactly. I want to see the peaceful non-criminals be given residency status and tax ID #s.

I support a free market system. And want felonious, criminal immigrants to be deported.

We have friends who bought one of these group homes after the illegals had vacated. They had to strip every out of the house, from the slab to the rafters, and replace walls, floors, ceilings, plumbing, etc. Nothing could be saved.

The standard residential leases clearly limit the number of individuals allowed to occupy the residence.

But the democratic politically correct government make it difficult to evict tenants who violate the terms.

So, you would support the deportation of all illegal immigrants, then. After all, they are all felons and criminals, because they violated our immigration laws, which is a felony (and criminal!).
