AP news story, 7/15/2007

Texas became the first state in which stores announced they would accept Mexican pesos as legal tender.

The above is a legitimate headline from today's news.

Just republished, after the Association of American Illegals suppressed the book, is THE OFFICIAL SECRET HANDBOOK FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

Just as www.conservativehumor.net published the first ever article on demanding that Christmas be banned as a national holiday, certified by an historian, all available on "archives" on site, back in 1994, the HANDBOOK forsaw what would happen to pesos in the United States.

About a dozen free sample pages begin here:
http://www.conservativehumor.net/documentsrus.html

Remember, the peso poloce warning was published in 1994.

"Ban Christmas" in 1994.

You oughta check out www.conservativehumor.net from time to time to see what the liberal meritocracy will be bringing us soon.

More frequent offerings will be forthcoming, we hope.

Guaranteed this week: 1. An Al Qaeda work application form; 2. President Bush takes in Putin's cancellation of the European disarmament treaty just two weeks before new British Prime Minister Brown makes his first trip in office to Washington, determined not to be Bush's "poodle" but gets a surprise at Bush's willingness to cast him free; 3. Why British suicide bombers are really, really stupid.

A local convenience store clerk constantly complains about efforts to buy the store’s products with pesos.

Got no problem with it. We traveled all over Europe and could cash in dollars just about anyplace. Also marks, frances, etc. (All Euro now.)

The point is, though, that all those places made money on us through both the exchange rate and the processing fee.

I was stationed in Japan for something like 14 years while in the Navy and all the restaurants and bars that catered to service members off base took US Dollars but the exchange rate wasn't nearly what you'd get at a money changer or the bank that's for sure.

Washington retailers have accepted Canadian currency for years. However I disagree with calling pesos legal tender. If a retailer likes to take it fine.....but to consider it legal tender is wrong.

True

A Canadian $ is worth what the vendor /retailer will accept it for, Pesos fluctuate more and best guess at point of sale may benefit the vendor or the buyer... a deal is a deal

Commerce should be regulated by those that engage in it.

Those stores made the “announcement” about taking pesos for publicity, knowing it would get national coverage. The exchange rate is likely a rip-off.
When I lived in upstate NY, I, and most folks, didn’t like getting Canadian money because unlike pesos it could be confused for American money, and at the time it was worth about 20% less.
What the newscasters and others don’t understand is that people are upset about the pesos because of all the other crap going on, and so people feel insecure and defensive. If the law was upheld and the borders secure I doubt anyone would care about who accepted pesos.

I wouldn’t have a problem with it except for the fact that Mexicans are invading this country by the millions and taking as much from us as they can illegally.
Canadians are not coming over the border illegally by the millions. They come over legally to visit or work or for reasons other than to live ilegally and suck off the system.
We already make it easy enough for them why should we make it easier?

I wouldn’t think of trying to buy something in Europe with Mexican pesos. Of course, since I don’t have any pesos, it has never been a temptation.

You answered your own question... can't stop them, what can you do? Profit, make it expensive. What is the reason that we are not heading South into "THEIR" Country? "No Profit" if cheap labor was the end all be all for a Company why aren't we flooding Mexico? Answer: they don't have a Second Amendment, a Fifth Amendment hell they are lucky that if they survive their Government "allows" them to Leave to illegally invade the the USA. TT

I did not answer my own question. I did not say we cannot stop them rather that we should not be making it easier.
My point is that we should not be making it easier as they are not just “visiting” like the Canadians or other tourists are they are here illegaly taking as much as they can and with their birth rate of anchor babies becoming a voting block that will eventualy overtake us.
Should we be making it easier for us to lose to illegals?
You are wrong about their government not allowing them to leave. We are fast becoming the safety valve for their failed society. The Mexican gov encourages their leaving and sending back tens of billions of dollars. It is their second largest source of income after oil.

I’m surprised it took this long. Many merchants in Montana along I-15 from Alberta accept Canadian dollars. Casinos especially.
