A DRUG gang has threatened to kill foreign journalists who report on the violence between rival cartels and security forces along the US-Mexico border, media and US officials have said.
Mexico's cocaine smuggling Gulf Cartel has allegedly planned to hire gunmen to kill foreign journalists working in the crime-torn Mexican city of Nuevo Laredo, on the border with Texas.
In response, two Texas-based newspapers have pulled their reporters from the city.
The US government condemned the threats and said it would try to protect US journalists working in Mexico.
"We will work with authorities in the United States and in Mexico to do everything possible to guarantee the safety of U.S. journalists who work on each side of our common border," said Tony Garza, the US ambassador in Mexico.
Mexico's foreign correspondents' association said it had information that any foreign journalists working in the area could be at risk.

FYI
The good deed of silencing one of the most convincing arguments for building the wall along the border? Look, see this newspaper report? Dozens of people are being shot, on both sides of the border, by drug gangs. We'd better build a wall to help curb their routes, and help save lives, on both sides of the border.
pssshhh prolly jealous they cant do the same here with people they dont like. At least until they get that media-assassin-work-visa passed...
How long before the drug cartels start assassinating elected US officials?
Ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
“How long before the drug cartels start assassinating elected US officials?”
Good question
LMAO!!
That’s actually a good question. If I was them that’s what I would start at.
Would they like a list?????
Large numbers of Mexican police and soldiers are complicit with the smuggling, as are the politicians.
The current president of Mexico seems to be trying to deal with it, but I think many of his predecessors were part of the problem. And for all I know, he’s simply involved in a struggle among the drug gangs rather than an effort to tackle them.
Clinton had a piece of the action while he was president. After he was acquitted at the impeachment trial, the first thing he did was to go down to Mexico to visit his drug-dealing political friends, and no doubt to collect his share of the take.
Maybe they should start protecting young American girls from the murderers and rapists who cross into America from Mexico. It has to be corruption that causes the politicians to ignore the threats from terrorist, murderers and drug lords operating at our border.
Why would they want to kill their buddies who help them out?
“How long before the drug cartels start assassinating elected US officials?”
Sooner than you think. The intimidation of witnesses has been going on for awhile. The gangs threaten US police officers at their own homes.
Possibly explaining the inexplicable attraction of many politicians to recent immigration bills.
Why would they assassinate U.S. Officials? Apparently our politicians and officials are Mexico’s best friend. Heck, they like Mexico and Mexicans better than they like their American constituents.
The War on Drugs creates the fantastic profits that empower the gangs.
Ending the War on Drug Users would depower the gangs.
