Tidying up the other day, I came across an old newspaper and, flipping through it, saw a picture on page 22 that made my heart stop. It showed Palestinians, most of them young, all of them males, reacting with glee to a particularly heinous terrorist attack. The date was Sept. 12, 2001, and the Palestinians were cheering the deaths of about 3,000 innocent Americans the day before. You can, as they say, look it up.
What you don't have to look up, though, is the fact that this was before America's retaliatory invasion of Afghanistan or the war in Iraq. It was also before Guantanamo became shorthand for abuse of the president's constitutional authority and before the outrage of Abu Ghraib, the U.S.-run prison in Iraq where suspected terrorists were sometimes sexually abused. In other words, the demonstration by Palestinians (in the Lebanese refugee camp of Shatila) preceded most of the usual reasons given for why America today is held in contempt by much of the world.

Nick Berg was kidnapped almost a month before the photos of Abu Ghraib were leaked. He was not kidnapped in retaliation but when a Halliburton employee escaped from his captors, Nick Berg (and other hostages) posed a security risk. So his murder was timed to capitalize on the "news".
BTW, Egyptian media ran photos of "US Soliders" "raping" "Iraqi women". Photos that were actually sourced from a porn website. THAT DID come out before the Abu Ghraib story.
So when I see reports that the men were "sexually abused", I take that to mean RAPED. Not "panties on the head". Not "led around on a chain by a dominating woman". RAPED.
Were any of the men RAPED?
I know that OUR OWN SOLDIERS have been shown with their pants down and their genitals mutilated. Any of that happen to the men at Abu Ghraib?
Words mean things and I don't see their psychological abuse as "sexual assault".
Ummm, “...in 1948...—amazingly enough...—”]
Do you think the Holocaust had anything to do with it?
Them saying they want to kill us is Constitutionally protected speech.
Us protesting amnesty for illegal immigrants needs to be “balanced” and in a lot of cases, just shut down.
The world never ceases to amaze me.
