For four decades, Joseph Torrenueva has cut the hair of Hollywood celebrities, including Marlon Brando and Bob Barker, so when a friend told him in 2003 that a presidential candidate needed grooming advice, he agreed to help.
The Beverly Hills hairstylist, a Democrat, said he hit it off with then-Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) at a meeting in Los Angeles that brought several fashion experts together to advise the candidate on his appearance. Since then, Torrenueva has cut Edwards's hair at least 16 times.
At first, the haircuts were free. But because Torrenueva often had to fly somewhere on the campaign trail to meet his client, he began charging $300 to $500 for each cut -- plus the cost of airfare and hotels when he had to travel outside California.
Torrenueva said that one haircut during the 2004 presidential race cost $1,250 because he traveled to Atlanta and lost two days of work.
"He has nice hair," the stylist said of Edwards in an interview. "I try to make the man handsome, strong, more mature, and these are the things, as an expert, that's what we do."
It is some kind of commentary on the state of American politics that as Edwards has campaigned for president, vice president and now president again, his hair seems to have attracted as much attention as, say, his position on health care. But when his campaign reported in April that it had paid for two of his haircuts at $400 each, the political damage was immediate. With each punch line on late night television, his image as a self-styled populist making poverty his signature issue was further eroded.

Oops, I just re-read my post, I meant to say my hair is like Edwards’s, not Gore’s. Gore’s hair is ver thin lately, I guess he’ll be bald in a few years—maybe his son is causing him to lose his hair as well as his mind.
I just don’t think men wear their hair in the style that Edwards is sporting anymore. It needs hairspray to stay in place. He’s stuck in the Bobby Goldsboro era that went out of style in the late 70s.
I believe the entire comment from the money wench was,
“Ya’ll know, where we’re all from, a gentleman always carries a hankey for the ladies, or his own nose if he is a lady.”
Queer Eye for the Silk Pony Guy?
I got one word for his Pompous ass...”FLOWBIE”!!!
i don’t think ross perot has spent $1200 on haircuts all his life.
Coulter was Right!
Pray for W and Our Troops
LOL
Exactamundo. He may still be driving that '85 Olds he had back in the 90s.
Now that was hilarious!
“edwards’....$1200 bill for one haircut?
if mr. edwards truly wants to take on the mantle of a champion of “the poor”, then he should give everything he owns to “the poor”. then he might have some credibility.
otherwise, he should keep his taxes, his desire for increased government power, his hubris-laden demeanor, his delusional feelings of intellectual superiority and put them in a box. (maybe he can open it in thirty or fourty years, after his party has gotten over its’ socialist revolutionary fervor; hopefully)
in a closet.
The amount can NOT be $1250.00!! The plane ticket, hotel, food, AND the haircut would be that much PLUS he said he lost TWO DAYS WORK and at $400.00 a haircut that’s a LOT of THOUSANDS of dollars that haircut cost!! 10x400x2=$8000.00
Yes, his barber is skilled. Edwards’ problem is that HRC has already stolen his base of the poor and dispossessed. They think they are required to back HRC and will do so.
They are particularly loyal soldiers to the socialist cause.
“it will be hitlerarious!”
heil hillary!!!
