It is worth repeating that Henry Cisneros is actually held a position in the Executive Branch much higher that the position that was held by Scooter Libby.
Henry Cisneros was the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Appointed by Bill Clinton.
In 1997, because of investigations against him that began in 1995, Cisneros resigned his position. In December of 1997 Cisneros was indicted on 18 counts of conspiracy, giving false statements and obstruction of justice.
In September of 1999, facing the reality that he would be convicted and sent to jail, Cisneros negotiated a plea agreement, under which he pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
HE WAS PARDONED BY PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON IN 2001.
PING...pass it on.
Glad to read this...wish we could SHOUT IT!
Somebody tell that fat butt wench that is married to Bill Clinton.
She seems to think Bush hasnt the right to issue pardons.
I purposely avoided the thread about HER statement on the clemency (not a pardon), but heard her on the news antway. My blood is boiling. HOW DARE SHE? She who's relatives made money off selling pardons? She who got votes purchased for her through pardons? and that's just for openers.
No, but he might be the highest ranking person to be falsely convicted.
Given that President William Jefferson Clinton righteously pardoned him in 2001, it is very obvious to any impartial observer that Cisneros never committed any crime but merely suffered from the excesses of a hideous and overzealous but deeply corrupted right-wing cabal of serial liars incensed about their inability to turn up even a minor indiscretion.
Thanks for the ping!
Web Hubbell In Hot Water Again
By Reed Irvine and Cliff Kincaid | February 11, 1999
Webster Hubbell, the associate attorney general for the first 15 months of the Clinton administration, faces the possibility of being sent to prison a second time. On January 26, the Court of Appeals reinstated a tax fraud case that Independent Counsel Ken Starr had brought against Hubbell. He was indicted last April on charges that he had evaded taxes on income of more than $850,000 from 1994 through 1997.
The case was dismissed last July by Judge James Robertson, a Clinton appointee, who ruled that Starr had exceeded his authority because the tax evasion charges were not related to his Whitewater investigation. Two Appeals Court judges, one appointed by Reagan and one by Carter, have now reversed Robertson. A third judge, appointed by Clinton, dissented. The majority opinion was that Hubbells tax evasion could well have been related to the Whitewater investigation because Hubbell may have not reported most of his income because it was hush money paid to buy his silence.
She and the DBM want folks to ferget about that time period
