We ate breakfast at home and went home for lunch but there was always milk at school.
We had our eyes checked, free physicals and went to the Eastman Dental Dispensary for free dental care.
WE were the teacher's aids and THERE WAS NO POLITICS IN THE PRIMARY GRADES.
Perfect spelling and perfect handwriting was expected....not dismissed as "restricting creativity". No writers came out of our ranks??? No Genius' came out of our ranks??
The high school graduation rate in this same district today is about 30%...and we're paying through the teeth.
As an aside, there were sixty kids in my first grade class and you could hear a pin drop when Sister Mary Paul was in the class. Naturally enough we did our school work and we learned stuff. Interesting relationship isn’t it.
