Well said. Busing is a failed experiment. As are the educational methodologies that have been followed for the last 50 years. The problem we have is the entrenched liberal educational leadership. It is three decades past time to break this monster up.
As an aside, there were sixty kids in my first grade class and you could hear a pin drop when Sister Mary Paul was in the class. Naturally enough we did our school work and we learned stuff. Interesting relationship isn’t it.
I went to Catholic School from 6th grade on (1954-1961). At that time, teachers in both schools were excellent IN THE PRIMARY GRADES. I found no difference in the teaching methods. But, the Public schools were superior, having music lessons, playgrounds, plays, visits to the Rochester Museum, the Eastman House, the Eastman Theatre etc. It was very diverse.
Kids rarely got into trouble (and we all carried a knife to play mumbly peg).My biggest crime was stepping on Mrs. Culian's lawn (The old lady with the broom stood by her property every day when we were walking to school!!) My first confession was: "I stepped on Mrs. Culian's lawn 500 times.
