China damaged U.S. security interests with diplomatic moves and military buildup, and recently business interests notably with yuan revaluation. Business interests were able to hold off protests from security interests. Not anymore, I guess. The stage is set.

My take on this is that the PRC has become very, very nervous. I suspect major American buyers like Walmart have told them to shut up lest what they say draw attention to the issue, and injure the reputation of ALL Chinese products in America.

"...and recently business interests notably with yuan revaluation" Does anyone know the current status of the yuan revaluation?
The last I recall, they made a tiny revaluation, but did not remove the dollar peg entirely becuase their economy wasn't strong enough to handle a full float of their currency?

I think the best explanation is the obvious one: The US by intervening firmly here is trying to stave off the prospect of suddenly losing China as a major supplier due to an avalanche of alarmed consumers. Then the US wouldn’t have a bribe for China any more not to nuke it.

What if we all sent letters email and faxes to Walmart headquarters? Tell them we want only American food grown in America do you think it would make any difference?

The big benefit here is that China's arrogance will inspire and compel millions of Americans to at least attempt to forgo their goods and consumables.
To hell with the ChiComs and their distributors here. They are all trying to poison us.

I've suddenly lost my appetite for seafood from China. Looks like they'll have to poison their own citizens! No difference from our government officials who try to shove deadly bills down our throats!
Our weak government is shouted at by all kinds of foreign entities whether Chinese or Mexican. It works most of the time so why wouldn't the foreigners stay on the offense against the only super power?
Sad, very sad indeed.
